That's wildly offensive now that u understand what it means??

I can't stop thinking about this song... It was so hilarious when I was a kid and some parts still are but there are some lyrics that just make me CRINGE cuz it's so bad

This thread is 18+ for potential offensive content and also the question is for adults anyway :^)

.... I still find this funny, I met some many kids like this in college...playing up to emo stereotype... Then there was me actually struggling with serious shit, depression, self harming and having really no idea what emo when I was 12 (emo thing didn't really start kicking off til I was maybe 15, so 2004 lol)

I only caught the very end of the whole emo rise and still didn't really understand what it was until a few years later. My older sister was listening to MCR and my family would make fun of her for being an 'emo' even tho she wasn't really , and I would make fun of her too and then go listen to MCR secretly lmaoo.

So many of the jokes in the song would not pass today tho, like all of the gay jokes and that transvestite one... :nekosweat::nekosweat: I still secretly enjoy the rest of the jokes tho

Colorist comments 🙁
For me I never heard anything colourist until people started talking about it on the internet, but I can see how you might not understand it as a kid, this is why we needa be more careful about what we teach kids cuz some of them grow up with that kinda thing normalised not really understanding the deeper issue until someone spells it out for them u know?

Exactly. I heard these "jokes" all the time, everywhere, then made them about people in my own life. Like, that's messed up.

Yeah. In no way is this quite as offensive as colourism but it was sort of the same situation with my sister's weight. I mean she is obese but that's just a fact, she knows the risks and she's happy regardless but wow fatshaming really was a thing both with me and her friends in high school too

The kids in my school would like shrivel up if one of the immature boys said the n word because 'you can't do that it's racist!!' and then a couple hours later would pull the corners of their eyes back and say shit like 'ching chong' because apparently that isn't racist and i'm just being overdramatic when I tell them that's mad offensive :dubuthink: like literally wtf

I just really don't understand how they think that racism towards Chinese people (and Asian people in general because they don't know or care about the fact that Asia isn't just China) doesn't count as racism. And that they would get really offended over one kind of racism but the moment they get called out on their own racism suddenly everyone's just too sensitive, double standards everywhere, EVERYWHERE
