I think best comedy, fantasy and drama are new categories, or rather making their return, which is good since you get at least some variety on nominations with them.
In other hand best movie is missing which is bit weird choice for me, especially when movies didn't get nominated to anything else either.
I'm mostly happy what they nominated to each category although there is nomination there and here I don't agree with or would have swapped to sth else. I feel like there is maybe too many nominations per show so you see lot of same shows repeating, but in other hand these shows mostly fit to what they were nominated for.
What surprised me is almost zero nominations to BTS.. uh I mean My Hero Academia. They swept the award table 2018 and 2019 which resulted whole award show being dismissed by many, so I get why they wanted to avoid another repeating another MHA awards. But just one nomination in the antagonist? Huh. Well, in other hand S4 of MHA is still middle of airing and I wouldn't say they have deserved more nominations so far- I mean maybe Mirio could been in best boy category, but it's probably best for everyone this way. I think people will still slam the show if and when Overhaul wins best antagonist over Askeladd, Garou etc.
Sth that is missing in the nominations though is SAO: Alicization for me. It was also missing last year so I was thinking they'd nominate it this year instead, but no. Weird!
Oh and why no Fruits Basket boys in best boy category??
Xd I guess I always find sth to complain about. But seriously, this is good cast of nominations and categories for me.
