He was surrounded by black walls as he walked along the empty path ahead.
The streetlights flickered out as he approached.
He clutched at his chest, his heart barely a faint whisper amid the silence.
The air was frigid as he stood alone, peering over the edge to freedom.
He climbed until he perched atop the steel beam.
At that moment he felt infinite.
For one last time, he acknowledged the stars that eagerly greeted him above.
They beckoned him forward and whispered in his ear, "Fly"

So he did.
The waves below engulfed him, shrouding him in color.
