Source: How South Korea’s Nightclub Outbreak Is Shining an Unwelcome Spotlight on the LGBTQ Community (approaches topic in viewpoint of Itaewon's LGBT community not about idols), Agencies Of Jungkook, Mingyu, Cha Eun Woo, And Jaehyun Apologize For Itaewon Outing + Confirm They Tested Negative For COVID-19

I haven't yet seen thread of this.

For a background there was coronavirus outbreak in Itaewon clubs, that led to surge of the infections in SK. Goverment has been tracking those who have been in order for them to get tested and there has been request that anyone who visited the clubs between April 24 and May 6 should self-quarantine. There was first of rumours of various idols being sighted in the Itaewon clubs during 25th and 26th April, but companies stayed quiet about.

However after Dispatch came and confirmed that Jungkook (BTS), Mingyu (Seventeen), Jaehyun (NCT) and Cha Eunwoo (Astro) had been clubbing in Itaewon and that many of them hadn't been self-quarantined afterwards- scandal breakout and the idols have been met with criticism over their actions.

Agencies of the said idols have issued apologies after the article was released and said that their artist has been tested negative. However there is still backlash of the artist not self-quarantining and not giving apologies themselves apart from Cha Eunwoo and Jaehyun.

--

I'm personally not big into shaming people over COVID stuff (unless it's braindead stuff), cause there is not lot of solid information yet and circumstances are different. But as a idols it would been best for them to show example by self-quarantining for two weeks after possible exposure as was recommended (even if you first get tested negative you might still be carrier of the virus). I get the backlash in that sense and I think fans shouldn't be too quick to defend it either- but the hate seems bit excessive too considering they were at least tested negative and haven't got symptoms.

While what they did goes against social distancing guidelines and does not show a good example to the public, the amount of hate they have received is unnecessary.

TBH, I was surprised no one has brought up the whole LGBT aspect of this yet, like that's the first thing I thought about when I saw they were getting backlash for being out at a club. I was like, "wait... wasn't the club that was connected to the outbreak a gay club?"

I’m a fan of 3/4 of them so I was disappointed in them and think they should have done better as public figures. So many people love and look up to them so this isn’t a good image to be showing. But that said, the amount of hate they have been receiving is just uncalled for. They were called out, they apologised and hopefully they’ll be more careful from now on. They’re treating them like some criminals which I find so ridiculous. They were reckless but they haven’t committed any crimes so people need to waste their hateful energy on something else.

I'm disappointed with them but annoyed with fans for refusing to believe they weren't irresponsible. Even if they got tested that's no guarantee they were 100% in the clear. Jaehyun and Eunwoo have especially been hounded because they have been doing activities and if they had been asymptomatic carriers they could have exposed a good bit of people.

That said when I viewed the comments of Jaehyun's Instagram there were people on there threatening him and stuff and that's just wrong.

I've seen people on Reddit bring it up but not so much twitter and other places. What I saw there was people refuting fans claims they are only being criticized because they are celebrities. Foreigners and LGBT have both been targeted as well because a lot of the new cases were from out of the country and the fact that the government was having trouble tracking possible people infected from the LGBT clubs (they gave fake names, #'s, etc).

I think it was several different clubs, bars, and restaurants there were hotspots. The focus on the LGBT stuff was because people weren't keen to come forward because of possible outing. South Korea's tracking is controversial when it comes to privacy, in some cases they release last names, ages, and general region/area where people live to the public.
