Star Wars for Newbies Pt. 4.3- Rebellion and the fall of the Empire (1 Viewer)

Notes: I just noticed that I've been spoiling too much of the story but I need to do so in order to provide context about certain events, I really tried my best but I guess it's inevitable. That being said, OG Star Wars came out +40 years ago and the last movie of the precuels has 15 yrs already. So go watch it if you haven't yet...

After 24 years*, Emperor Palpatine and his apprentice Darth Vader have finally conquered every corner of the galaxy by eliminating the pro-Republic remnants and the Jedi. Making use of effective propaganda against the Jedi (Please see Pt. 4.2 for reference), a massive army and the construction of weapons of planetary dimensions, there was no doubt of the dominance of the Sith over galaxy.
Is under those circumstances that the young senator and Alderaan* Princess Leia Organa decides to put herself on the line and join the Rebellion against the Empire. Tired of the tyranny many goverments and influential individuals started to secretly plan and organize the rebellion and The King and Queen or Alderaan were part of those secret efforts. Once Leia's father stepped down as Senator, Leia took his place and witnessed the unfairness of the Empire and how her colleagues were either in favor or too frightened to do something about it. Due to this situation Leia decided to use her influence to collect information about the Empire and in one of her missions, with the support of Rogue One*, she was able to obtain the plans of the Empire's new superweapon: the Death Star.*
Following the advice of her parents, she was able to send the plans and ask for the help of Obi Wan Kenobi, the Jedi who once fought in the Clone Wars and managed to survive Order 66*.


Once The Jedi master had the plans on his hands, he went to the rescue of Princess Leia with the help of Han Solo and his new apprentice Luke Skywalker. Unfortunately, not everything came out as planned, the group managed to save Leia but Obi Wan sacrificed himself in order to distract Darth Vader, allowing the others to escape. With the plans safely delivered, the resistance against the Empire started to move forward their plans and after reuniting the best forces available, formed the Alliance to Restore the Republic.

Also known as Rebel Alliance, this movement was started by King Bail Organa and Mon Mothma* and then officially proclaimed in the Declaration of the rebel Alliance. Eventhough this movement wasn't as big and organized as the Imperial forces, they managed to organize a good amount of rebel cells that were scattered in the galaxy under one banner and one goal: Defeat the empire and restore democracy. Now that the Rebel Alliance became of public knowledge, the Empire also prepared themselves, bared its fangs and The Galactic War* started.

Several battles took place but it wasn't until the decisive Battle of Yavin, (in a last attack lead by Luke Skywalker to destroy the Death Star), that the tables had definetely turned in favor of the Rebels.


Following the Battle of Yavin, the Imperial forces had to retreat to the second Death star** in order to reorganize but The Rebel Alliance launched a final attack in the Battle of Endor* and destroyed the super weapon along with Emperor Palpatine and his apprentice Darth Vather, which were inside during the explosion.

With the victory of the Rebel Alliance, the peace and democracy returned to the Galaxy. The winner side reagruped to form a new Galactic government, The New Republic.

*The Galactic Empire lasted from 19 BBY until 5 ABY.
* Alderaan- Planet home of Princess Leia.
* Rogue One- The squadron of rebels that stole the Death Star plans. Seen in the movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
* Death Star- Super weapon of the size of a moon designed by the Empire to destroy entire planets
* Order 66- Not many Jedi were able to survive Order 66 (check previous thread) but among those who survived, Obi Wan Kenobi and Yoda were 2 of the most relevant, if not the most relevant.

* Mon Mothma- Important female politician who help Bail Organa to organize the early rebellion against The Empire.
* Galactic War- War between The Empire and The Rebel Alliance.
** The second Death was still under construction when it was destroyed, near one of the moons of the planet Endor.

People love to complain about Disney but it's not like Lucas was doing that much better honestly.

Honestly, I think when it comes to concepts, visual designing and story planning, Lucas is a genius; but when it comes to storytelling and execution, he is an incompetent. He should have left scriptwriting and directing to others.

I agree 100%. One of the things that many people have pointed about his work with the precuels, is that he needed guidance or someone else with better skills as director to guide the actors and the execution but since he is George Lucas no one said a thing and we got what we got. Recently, I was really impressed with Dave Filoni's understandment of Lucas's vision during an interview. If he had been earlier into the Star Wars universe, maybe things would've been different.

I was told who was put in charge; but I don't remember; maybe Dave Filoni.

This whole week and your posts have to some extent revived my interest for Star Wars. If it weren't for my current financial situation; I'd had subscribed to Disney+.

The Disney years have been pestered by Kathleen Kennedy's incompetence according to things I have heard. I think someone told me that now she's still CEO; but she is no longer in charge of Star Wars. I was told who was put in charge; but I don't remember; maybe Dave Filoni.

Yeah, I do prefer good characters. I hope Star Wars to be in better hands now. Rey seemed to be a good character on ep7; but it went to waste. Pity.
