I guess because she didn’t have the typical Kpop idol look or didn’t meet the usual Korean beauty standards. Also she was always presented as this girl with a very comic/meme y image instead of glamorous like Nancy, so the public perception also swung that way.

I don't get why it's such big deal that she isn't a visual. Like there is other visuals in the group just stan them if it bothers you. It's pretty common actually that not all members fit the beauty standard and are praised for their looks, even in groups that in general are praised for visuals. Idk if there is any group whose all members are praised.
