stop censoring the word suicide, it makes you looks stupid and it invalidates people who have people who commited suicide and people who have attempted, it is genuinely stupid. words like death, don't censor those. shouldn't even censor curse words, if you're worried that someone will be triggered by what was posted put a trigger warning. but censors do nothing because you're still saying the word. :)

I agree. The excessive censoring of everything now (especially on YouTube) has gone a little too far. I mean, I get that a lot of creators do it so that their work doesn't get demonetised but they shouldn't have to do that in the first place. The fact that you can't even say the word racism or transgender for fear of losing your income is absolutely disgusting and this over political correctness has to stop! It gets in the way of constructive dialogue and just leads to people being afraid to address certain topics of ask certain questions that need to be asked.

Yeah i've actually seen people point out that it hurts more than helps. I know on twitter and other places you can mute words/topics but if you censor a word with a symbol or number it will still show up and so someone who already set up stuff to protect themselves essentially did it for nothing because censored words/topics will still appear to them.

I understand marking stuff CW for content warning but censoring words to me seems like it does the opposite of what its supposed to.

Like the only stuff you should "censor" is trending topics you want to rant on but don't want some rando coming onto you tweet and fighting with you lmao

Honestly ppl triggerwarning and censor too much stuff.
Yeah some words can trigger some people BUT.... we cannot live our lives just thinking what if this one totally innocent word triggers somebody out there who I do not know.

Ppl are trigger warning the damn word ENLISTMENT on twt these days! I've even seen some ppl talk about tw FOOD! FUCKING FOOD

It's like any damn word that could in any way make ppl feel negative.... yeah that has to be either censored or warned about.

I get that it can trigger people and I totally understand that, BUT
Food is such a... normal part of life.

Bcs like if we are TW essential life functions now, should we also tw things like water bcs ppl might get triggered by the idea of drowning?
I get people getting triggered over things and that is awful, but at one point you have to draw a line.

It isn't up to me to make sure nobody ever gets triggered by smth I said. I shouldn't have to tw every little thing bcs it could potentially trigger somebody. Everything is a trigger to somebody, but we shouldn't live by that miniscule chance that somebody who potentially has this thing as a trigger could accidentally see this and get triggered. If we live like that we wouldn't be able to say anything.

I get TW like the most common things like death or gore or rape and sensitive topics, but common things like food really should be left to be.

Try to watch youtube opinion channels and take a drink every time they have to sensor out a mundane word. I bet you won't make it through the video. The hoops youtubers have to go though to stay monetized. You have you tubers which were never kid friendly now having to be kid freindly and try to sensor their jokes.

The other day on an animal crossing forum on facebook a poster realized she had to sensor Molly... ... ...

YEAH, wait till the whole human dictionary offends everyone then try to speak.

Suicide should not be censored, that down plays the action and it blocks those who may want to try to speak out. Blocking anything mental health related can do more harm then good.

I totally get you. I think censorship in general is bad in a lot of cases. All I think is that trigger warnings are good.
