Cover Corp announced the launch of its hololive English Virtual YouTuber group on Wednesday, which will deliver English-language interactions with fans on platforms such as YouTube and Twitter. Five new talents launched their Twitter accounts on Wednesday, and they will begin streaming activities on September 12-13.

The concept behind the hololive English group is "myth," as the members "hail from worlds of legend." The group's official English YouTube account released a promotional video highlighting the new talent.
Virtual Youtubers, also known as VTubers, refer to people who are active on YouTube's platform as a virtual being. Within that, Hololive production operates its business in various regions such as Japan, China and Indonesia. With over 10 million fans on YouTube and likewise over 10 million supporters on bilibili in China as well.

Mori Calliope
The Grim Reaper's first apprentice. Because the world's medical system advanced so dramatically, she became a VTuber to collect souls. It seems that the lost souls vaporized by the wholesome relationships of VTubers flow through her as well. In the end, she's a gentle-hearted girl whose sweet voice contradicts the morbid things she tends to say, as well as her hardcore vocals.

Takanashi Kiara
An idol whose dream is to become a fast food shop owner. She is a phoenix, NOT a chicken or turkey. (Very important)

She works extremely hard since she will be reborn from ashes anyway.

Ninomae Ina’nis
One day, she picked up a strange book and then started to gain the power of controlling tentacles. To her, tentacles are just a part in her ordinary life; it has never been a big deal for her. However, her girly mind does want to get them dressed up and stay pretty.

After gaining power, she started hearing Ancient Whispers and Revelations. Hence, she began her VTuber activities to deliver random sanity checks on humanity, as an ordinary girl.

Gawr Gura
A descendant of the Lost City of Atlantis, who swam to Earth while saying, "It's so boring down there LOLOLOL!" She bought her clothes (and her shark hat) in the human world and she really loves them. In her spare time, she enjoys talking to marine life.

Watson Amelia
"She heard strange rumors surrounding Hololive online: talking foxes, magical squirrels, superhuman dogs, and more. Soon after beginning her investigation on Hololive, and just out of interest, she decided to become an idol herself! She loves to pass her time training her reflexes with FPS games, and challenging herself with puzzle games.

It's elementary, right?"

i didn't know about hololive until a few weeks ago, as a matter of fact they only reason i hear of them is because they have been trending in reddit, youtube and twitter

they are supposed to be idols

sure they are

but i wonder, could this work? i don't think the English speaking audience are going to be so receptive of it

Welp, I thought the shark one was like... Kanata with a new look.

Definitely looking into it! I haven't followed Hololive so closely recently (blame my lack of knowledge in Japanese, so I have to wait for special clips or explanations of other fans).

Some of them have songs as well, either covers or remakes, such as this Marine remake of a Touhou song.

I've only been linked found this original song from them. Not sure if there were more as I haven't watched the clips.

for now i only watched The Rapper Reaper and shark girl streams (i missed the others since i didn't know they would debut so close to each other)

but they are fun!

also all of them did their first group stream together

Mori is definitely my favorite
also weird enough Amelia who is the only human is also the weirdest member

------------

i think only Mori and Amelia are native speakers, the other girls sound more fluent in Japanese than English

but is a little strange to be able to watch hololive videos without waiting for subtitles, i even saw Japanese fans doing subs for the streams

I still have to get the names of them (and properly watch the lives) but I also think Mori will be my favorite (or maybe amelia or chicken lady?). octopus lady didn't get me personality wise, but her singing voice is fantastic!!! i'll be definitely supporting her. gura seems to be the fan fave i don't get because too moe

it's weird indeed but it's actually good to being able to watch an entire live and actually understand it instead of waiting for clips from subbers.

more songs from mori:

not gonna lie, her songs are pretty good :sj_weary:

after Mori i think Kiara is my 2nd favorite, their collab was pretty funny

i have yet to watch Cthulhu girl and Shark girl streams, they seem fun too but is just that cutesy/moe characters don't do much for me...

since the new gen debuted i noticed i have been watching more Hololive videos latety, i just hope this doesn't affect the interest in translations of the Japanese members, i still like them

oh my i wasn't aware mori and kiara made a collab!!! definitely watching later.

i have the same problem with moe characters (it was what first made me reluctant to watch hololive in general in the first place because i had the general thought of ugh they are all moe and i'll dislike them. i guess Coco's debut being the first that i watched made me weaken that idea. of course there are some (cough luna cough) i cant bare to watch.

gura is still not so pleasant because of that, but then i saw that she played muse dash and is a fan of rhythm games and since i am a fan of both muse dash and rhythm games so i'm #conflicted. I don't find Ina so moe, but I don't her much interesting either other than her singing voice. I'll probably keep watching mori/kiara/amelia more regularly in the end.

i don't really think the other translations will be affected, to be honest. at least, not for the bigger ones i suppose.

Mori is definitely my favorite, she has been streaming Mad father (she did say she loved obscure RPG maker titles) and despite being death incarnate she is pretty chill and nice

the other day she have a breakdown because chat members wouldn't stop donating huge tips to her

literally suffering from success :sakUwu:

Gura subscriber count is crazy, she debuted 2 weeks ago yet at this pace she is going hit 500k this week

i think i'm neutral to her, that said i really liked her "Ride on time" cover, that was amazing

my favorites are Pekora and Towa, i think i just like how some of the members don't even bother playing a character anymore and just are themselves

and i don't know much about the earlier gens since i only got to know of Hololive recently, i think the first time i hear of them it was Watame apologizing in asacoco for her crappy internet

something intersting is that apparently at least a few of the EN members are living in Japan so is going to be interesting seeing collaborations with the Japanese branch

I haven't seen her other lives yet, they are starting to accumulate send help :nekosweat:

I have watched Amelia's live where she was being squished in that smiley game I don't remember the name. And I also just watched part of Gura's latest Muse Dash attempt - she is tooooo good AGHHHHHHH she has become my MD inspiration at this point. She has started to grow on me as well - still find her too moe for my taste. But then again who am I to judge as Haacha Haachama is one of the ones I follow the most and she also goes down in the moe route (in totally different ways of course).

Oooo Watame was one of the first I watched as well. The first one I think it was Kanata (maybe even some of j-core meme songs before, but I wasn't really aware of them at that point). I slept watching her debut though, oop. I don't follow much about neither Pekora nor Towa, but I was actually browsing Towa's channel earlier this week. I'll love to see the collabs as well. I need to catch up on the collabs between the english ones themselves first.
