Yeah, some friends of mine are already doing some on advance to post next month.

Since it'll be my first inktober, I'll do it as simple as I can.

i was wondering if people ever do that or if its considered cheating. that would make things a bit easier though
i just think i would feel pressure because i have to put this stuff online also because ink isn't even one of my mediums i'm pretty sure i know how to draw in ink but i've never sat down and done it before. i could find out i suck at it.

i agree with you though, going simple is the best way! it would be my first year too so i'd definitely start small.
i'm thinking maybe i'll do this year as an inktober preparation. i'll do one drawing per week and just keep it in my sketchbook. then if i like how those drawings turn out, next year i'll do it fully and publicly

omg i never knew i could do pencil or digital! im much more comfortable with those so that would really save me if i fail with ink. working digitally would make me a bit faster too...
i also heard that you can do ink and watercolor. i think i would really like that.

my biggest concern is how i would shade things. also coming up with ideas that will look good but not be too complicated. ok after thinking on it..... i think i would like to do ink and a little black watercolor and i would like to use line weight to give depth and then shade with stippling. if i used a couple of layers of watercolor and one layer of stippling it should look pretty good. i just would need to try it out. i think i would use a brush pen for my outlines and microns for my stippling. but my current microns are dry af so baby might need to order some new ones asap!

oh wow your work is so pretty! your proportions are good, lines are nice and clean, style is lovely. i feel you on the digital drawing 100%. I love it because I can correct mistakes fast. I can just free transform and warp something until I like it and then I can put down colors but then change them all later if I want to. Its so convenient!

But along the way a small drop of sense finally came into my brain and I started to understand what I should do. Now i really prefer to work in paint or colored pencil. But when i'm too tired to deal with brushes, canvases, mediums and stuff I just lay on my bed and use my tablet. I can do all the same stuff and never move anything but my hand pure laziness!

I'm almost sure there is some mistake somewhere there that I let go unnoticed lol

Now that I'm starting to experiment with different types of body proportions, I think I'll just change my art drastically again soon

(I think you noticed already I'm the more experimental kind of guy)

One thing that annoys me is when I learn something cool, then I notice it's way better than the old drawings.

I'm deciding to keep the old stuff only on deviantart because of that, i'm even considering uploading some old drawings i did on paper there, stuff from decades ago lol.

honestly i dont even know how i learned color theory. was it a book? a video? Idek. its all a horrible blur lol i think it was mostly through pure suffering. i bought some watercolor really cheap and i tried to learn how to mix paint and it was a disaster! so every day i would try and fail. i did this for months. But along the way a small drop of sense finally came into my brain and I started to understand what I should do. Now i really prefer to work in paint or colored pencil. I watched some mangá artist videos, and the guys do stuff like printing the drawing they scanned on paper.

Then they go like "let's throw some ink here and there, put this on the light table and that over there and there and see the results".

That kind of thing is more like my jam lol

are there any prompts on the list that you're already excited to do?

Uhm, there was some discussion among my group about the difficult of some items like Wisp and Outpost.

Specially outpost, we started talking about it and it went from Military camp, to Tim Burton, to World Wars, World history and world economy lol

It became a mess

Maybe these interest me more:

Music, I could do kpop lol
Fancy, I can do Twice
Hope... a very interesting one too.
Fish i can do some pretty fish girl or something, maybe a girl inside some aquarium? That'd look cool.
Now I need to find again that reality show with 4minute's Sohyun and Kara's Youngji that they go to work on an aquarium lol

And ofc blade, that must be the best one.

lol there usually always is some mistake lurking somewhere in every drawing that we forgot or didn't see. its the curse of being an artist. but as long as no one else can find it either youre good!

Fancy and Twice? its perfect! I was thinking for me I would do a fancy dress or something. maybe fancy shoes or a ring. If you do a fish girl that would be so cool! I cant wait to see it! Yeah, some of the options do seem difficult and outpost is definitely one of them. My first idea was some outpost on an alien planet where some unsuspecting soldiers are playing cards and drinking while unknowingly a creepy tentacled alien is creeping across the ceiling etc. but that would be waaaaaaaaay too complicated and detailed and would take forever, so i gotta come up with a much simpler idea.

I'm really excited about fish because i'm going to enjoy drawing those tails they have, and Dune. I'm a fan of the movie Dune and I'm going to draw my boi Muad'Dib and in the background try to get in one of the giant worms. i also cant wait for ominous, crawl and armor. i may fail armor because i never drew any before but this is the perfect time to try!

Since i'm not too much focused on $$ so I don't bother a lot in exploring the digital arts possibilities.

Outpost I decided on going for something like a game.

Specifically i'd go with this one:

It was a point and click game and since that place is a military base, I think it works as a rudimentary outpost.
