Anyone here? That was somewhat a normal smoker (8 - 10 cigs per day) and managed to totally quit? Any suggestions?

Used nicorette gums, failed
Used nicotine patch, failed

Sigh,

Its tiring, this mental battle SUCKS big time

Is meeting Miyeon irl is the only medicine?

I used to smoke but managed to quit in order to save money when the prices of the cigarettes rose to about $13 per packet now.

I haven't ever had a smoking addiction, but I've had another drug addiction that I had to break. The way I stopped was I essentially just forced myself to go cold turkey. To help with the cravings, I typed out how continuing to use it would affect me and everyone else around me on my phone. For almost a whole year after that every time I got cravings I'd take out my phone and read it over and over until the craving went away. The cravings hit really hard within the first few weeks, but I found that if I could just stop myself for about 15-20 minutes they'd go away. It got much easier as time went on and the cravings started to lessen a lot within a few months, especially with what I'd written motivating me. Maybe this might work for you? If not you could always try it with the use of the nicotine patches at the same time?

I haven't been a smoker myself but i've watched streamers who got off cigarettes with vaping so maybe that'll work for you.
Thanks, but real life experience my friends who went to vape...back to cigs again...well they vaped like a year or so but then they missed the real one they said...

Well I havent tried one before, maybe its one of my last resort besides motivation and cold turkey

Gums and patches imo make it worse for like a week or so it makes my cravings uncontainable when I forgot or not in position to use the patches

I really wanna try cold turkey again and yeah I did what you do writing on phone etc, maybe I just need more determination

Former smoker of 30 - 40 a day. What helped me to quit though was the motivation from my wife and our daughters.
Now thats harder man props to you! I really wanna be open about this tbh to wife and parents but they are close minded people tbh...

Like its frustrating everytime I smoked again and again and again I condemned myself but its always like running in circle

I learnt from experience that its better to open up about my own struggles. But it does help having a wife that is very supportive (and not afraid to speak what she's thinking)

I don't know if it would help for you.. But when I got stressed rather than having a cigarette I would brew myself a cup of green tea or jasmine tea, and that would help to calm me down.
I also now get through a lot of sugar free mints on a daily basis! lol

Yeah you and your wife relationship is so much fun! Same hobby (kpop) is very helpful imo

Yeah they said caffeine makes cravings worse right? Maybe I should switch to tea

Our shared hobbies and interests is what drew us to each other as friends in the first place ^^

Green tea has caffeine as well. But you don't have the same spike in caffeine or dramatic drop off that you get from drinking coffee.

I've also got Lemongrass tea and that helps with stress and fatigue as well.

There is also the possibility it won't happen to you though and it'd be a healthier alternative in the meantime while finding something that can replace smoking for you if your end goal is to quit completely.

I was a pack a day smoker for years. The main hurdle to clear is to really deep down in your soul want to quit. No half-assing this. Also, forget all the gimmicks and drugs, cold turkey is the way to go. The hardest part is getting through the first 24 hours. Disassociate yourself from routines where you would have a smoke. After 3 days, the chemical dependence is gone and its all psychological from then on.

Cravings only last a few minutes, so keep yourself busy in those moments with something else. The craving will fade. Do not ever have another cigarette again or even a drag of one drunk at a party. I quit cold turkey for a full year the first time. Stupidly had one cigarette, and went back to a pack a day for 2 more years. The second time I quit has been successful 3 years and counting.

I was a smoker too. Not really a hardcore one but still. I used to spend enough money on cugs. And I used to hate to go out during the winter to smoke.
Try to calculate how much you can save if you give up smoking

Motivate yourself. Buy something with those money. Buy albums. Remember that you save a lot of money, you get rid of the cigs smell, you save time etc

I've come down from like 20 to 5 daily but it hasn't stopped completely lol. I'm willing to try e-cigarettes and see how it goes.
