Thoughts on England, non-English users? (1 Viewer)

I always see people asking non-Americans for their thoughts on America and decided to make a thread the other way around. I'll start off by saying I don't know why people think English accents are sexy when Australia is right there. An Australian accent has it all: sexy, fun, and downright adorable- English accents just sound so condescending and rude by nature (like speaking German) and everyone there always looks like they hate their life. I blame 1D for the amount of anglophiles that are currently in America.

Both English and Aussie accents are sexy ngl I could listen to them all day.

England seems so pretty with a lot of history, lots of historic places. But I've never personally been there. I would love to visit some day, though.

Also English humor/comedy is hilarious.

I think it might be sometimes hard to differentiate between Australian and British accent (unlike it is a specific regional dialect that is very different like Yorkshire and Western Australian accent). I find both accent really beautiful :).

As for England. I think it is often present in a very fairy-tale way, the whole Harry Potter thing, Love Actually, the British humour, Tom Hiddleston, Cambridge and Oxford, the a bit snobby but educated people, London in general and England in general has a good reputation. Also English literature has a place within the worldwide literature and in general a lot of general history classes are filled with English-French history, so here you go. BritPop was also very popular during 2000s so everyone was hooked on Arctic Monkey and the Kooks here. Being an au-pair in England was a dream for many.

Unfortunately, I later started watching lots of social documentaries and I am entirely sure I´d want to live there :D. It does not seem like England is just about tea, biscuits and BritPop :D. I´m shocked at the high number of teenager pregnancy, the unemployment rate and the social system is just .... odd in my opinion, but that is not a mistake of the people, but of the government.

I´d love to visit some places (but those are mostly Northern Ireland and Wales anyway), but I don´t think I´d like to live there. Still, RP is a dream for many. ♥

I hope I haven´t offended anyone. There is just an outlook from a European (because as I have been told several times THE UK IS NOT EUROPE, WE DON´T LIKE YOU, BOO. Though that makes us all dumb on the mainland because I think EVERYONE else apart from Brits is taught that the UK is a part of Europe ...weird).:D

Mainland Europeans have such a superiority complex about everything. Can’t go two seconds online without some stuck up frenchie or whoever acting like theyre gods gift to humanity for making a joke about Americans

I think it might be sometimes hard to differentiate between Australian and British accent

One sounds fun, beachy, and cute while the other makes me wanna slap someone. What is so hard to differentiate.

Canadians have the VERY DEFINITION of a God complex and it's honestly the most annoying thing in the world. The amount of times I've seen Canadians throw their unwanted, unwarranted opinion on America and the world in general makes me think that without America they would have to choose another country to have an unhealthy obsession with- same with England tbh.

And when it comes to the accent, the levels of irritation is dependent on where they are from. The Scouse accent is by far the worst, though..

Also English accents (every type) and Australian accents arent attractive in the slightest, Hence I don't like my own voice
Irish and new Zealand are quite okay though.
