It's something that's always really frustrated me when idols are visibly nervous to be talking to, standing too close or maybe even caught staring at another idol of the opposite sex. They're people who should be allowed to form romantic relationships and not get hate because of said relationship. But they're are some cases were couples wont get much backlash like Momo & Heechul (I know they got some but not like what some others in the past have gotten) so those cases have me wondering if there may be a possibility that in the wayyyyyyy future that idols dating will be accepted by their fans. In a way I think it's more a of hope of mine rather than what I think would actually happen since companies like to make their idols seem constantly available to their fans...

What do you guys think?

I don't think it can be changed unless the whole image of how idols are viewed in the industry change, because I think it's a building block of idol culture that dating is pretty taboo.
If perhaps the newer fandoms like for Itzy or TXT or Ateez etc exhibit the mindset of accepting dating though, it might start to catch on in future groups fandoms as well. All we can do for now is lead by example I guess?

i dont care if idols date i just don't want to hear about it. as long as they maintain the illusion of being single, letting me be reasonably in denial, then they can be as chanyeol as they want

i don't get why relationships have to go public

well never completely

but i hope it can become more widely accepted. rn idols are merketed as boyfriend/girlfriend, and enforcing a no dating thing just helps that mindset

maybe, maybe not
depends on how everyone is marketed tbh
like I'm thinking in the cpop idol industry, some idols (mostly the wlw snh ones tbh) date freely and can even see their popularity rise when they do so
other more traditional groups don't really see that happen, so I guess part of it also depends on the fandom culture

but since more fans seem to be open towards their idols dating, maybe it'll become mostly normalized sooner or later

I find it quite interesting how idols are treated differently in genres. Being a rapper and dating is ok, because the guys are usually regarded as "bad boys" or whatever while pop idols are treated like "angelic virgins" or whatever.

I understand why keeping relationships low profile might be clever and the pure image of an idol who is reliable etc. is definitely good to have due to cultural values and the general influence on the younger generation. Idols are often admired by younger people and as someone who grew up in the generation where "the sooner the better" was a motto and people were chasing to lose their virginity as soon as their milk teeth ... I can´t say that it has some benefits.

But then we have the Chen situation when lots of people turn on someone who has worked hard for many many years just because he chose to live his life freely. He married, had a daughter. What is wrong with that? I agree with idols keeping their relationships out of the media and be generally low profile, but I actually love seeing people freaking happy, so I am excited to see all my favs married (or not) and happy.

I don´t understand why Chanyeol was brought into the comments since the gossip was never confirmed.

Chanyeol was accused of being a cheater by his supposedly ex-girlfriend, later on Baekhyun was brought into the mess. Channie didn´t react to it, but Baekhyun reacted in his typical manner. Baek posted a picture of himself with a fly in his fist and a commnet "a friend, who?" or something like that, indicating this that "supposed friend (his and Chanyeol´s)" was no one but a nuance. Later on some more stories came up, most of them "proving" that Chanyeol was innocent. I haven´t been personally invested in the story that much, but since the accusations were not proven to be true. I´d leave it. Innocent until proven guilty.
