Dumb Summary of the KPS Card Game Part 1: The Generator and the Traders (1 Viewer)

A fair warning: this is intended entirely for entertainment purposes, so don't take anything here too seriously, after all I'm analyzing a card game on a kpop forum so please

Also, this is very long so here's a TLDR for you if you dont want to read the whole thing

1. The Generator

Anyone who knows the card generator well knows that it has a bias towards certain cards, example for my EXO collection is that there is no pull for EXO D.O. and still technically isn't, I had to forcefully drag him out. As the generator is random however, not much can be said about its psychology or way of thinking, this is an inanimate object we're talking about. You can see just by checking the card list, how one member of a group can have 8 pulls and one member of a group can have only 1.

Because of the uncertainty and craziness that this generator presents, it is in your best interest to not give up cards that you really really like for another card you really really like unless you are completely prepared to not get it back immediately. Otherwise you're on the way to heartbreak. And especially when more groups get released, please be careful about trading away your lovely biases.

2. The Traders

Despite the comparatively small amount of traders we have a huge range of different types of traders:

1. The Benevolents - People like @Yachii @yellowcoat @RandAlThor and others are known for being quite benevolent with their distribution of their cards to others. Yachii only requires that you trade him a card he does not yet have, and please never touch his IU or DC collection. Yellowcoat, although her love for her bg cards is great, her love for other users completing their sets has been bigger and thus she has contributed to the completion of so many sets that they are now innumerable. RandAlThor, an avid girl group stan, merely loves girl group cards and would like to have a nice collection of girls instead of boys, just don't ask for RV, Gfriend, or IZ*ONE at all unless you've gotten all of SNSD in one pull or something. Even then, don't ask. There are many others that frequently lend their assistance to card collectors but these are the ones that everyone knows~
2. The Profile Surfers - People like me, like @Ozymandias and @OnlyCalB are the people you see looking at your profile as soon as @Vikki or another Card Team member likes your post requesting a card. Please don't think we are stalking you, it is for the greater good of the card completion sets. After all, Cal is another form of Benevolent in the form of his Trading Center where you can go to report everything about your cards: What you're looking for, What you're trading, etc. I am also available for assistance though all of my assistance comes from my brain, not from a well organized list so you're better off with Cal . Ozy tends to specialize in huge outreach missions and multiple person trades, he will come and he will find you and he will get you the card you want and the card he wants. Many users of the following category are often flooded with the Profile Surfers messages asking what they want for what card, our dearest apologies for ever making you uncomfortable.

3. The Patients - People like @Reo @SHlNEE @Tickita and many many others, these are some of the more sane collectors. Maybe an occasional profile post, some threads advertising their cards for sale, but they don't feel the need to go all out and constantly be on the hunt. Because of this, they are patient with trades and tend to only receive cards that they really like, completing their sets in a timely manner. They often build up a good store of cards in preparation for the hunt and so when visiting their threads you find yourself overrun with the amount of cards you want from them and then disappointed by the cards they want that you don't yet have. But fear not, because eventually and hopefully you'll get a card they want and you yourself will hit the jackpot with their precious collection of cards.

I was chasing the cards and my own tasks so I needed to come down from the card high I was on before reading this.


This is a great thread and certainly highlights the key personality types that are trading cards.

This game is so addicting and fun (a little frustrating a times when you pull a nearly useless card) and I love how involved some people have become in the card game.
