How old were you when you started using the internet regularly? (1 Viewer)

How was life before the internet became a necessity for you?
I guess this also depends on how old you are lol, for the young users they'll be using the internet by themselves since pretty early on.

For me, I first started using the devastatingly slow dial up internet when I was around 14-15, even loading a pic used to take ages, and I could only use it when my parents weren't around lol. I'd instead go out with my friends and play sports or go biking through the town, Stranger Things style. Also used to read a lot of comic books and play some old video games together.

I didn't even own a phone until I was 16

Probably around the age of 7-8 since my mom bought us computer games from like disney and pixar movies, so basically she's the one who got us into video games LMAO

9-10 i think x)

[eclipsoul]

11-12, but at first the only thing i did was play these games

See, a 7-8 year old spending time on the internet daily doesn't seem wild now but it was unheard of in my time
Atleast you weren't left to explore the web unsupervised, that could be traumatic

I remember when I was 14 and had some friends over, the first site one of them opened was p*rn
I mean we'd seen stuff through DVDs before but this was a new experience

Got my first phone when I was 17. Used to go to the local "pc bang" every Sunday to use the internet for an hour till I almost graduated high school. My mom used to recharge my prepaid services for 2g internet. It included 1gb data usage for 28 days.
Fast forward to present and I now have a package that has 4gb data usage every day. clearly something went wrong in the past 10 years

I was rather young too like second/third grade? that’s also the time I got my official first phone - a motorolla in pink lollll

Yeah same, I started college when I was just a month shy of 17, that's when I got my first Nokia and I would just play Snake all day
Data packs used to be so much smaller and slower, try using 2G now and it's agony

Those were really sturdy phones. I remember dropping my mom's from the 6th floor and yet nothing happened. Not a scratch.

[brekker]

wow, awesome. I was 15 when my parents got the Internet at home. I was 12 when we started using Internet at school so I would later go to the library or the Internet Café to get online.

..... those Medieval times :D.

[Tickita]

Hm. 10? Even then that was just Funbrain in school.

[Areum]
