ok so i was researching shit and i come across cpop mvs
we all know people much rather talk kpop than cpop but WHY
WHY IS THAT?

look at these mvs for example



these chinese idols
compared to kpop mvs and idols.....
they look VERY similar
they have the same type of mv styles
they dress same ways
the hair looks the same etc

why is kpop so big and yet cpop is like; meh
not that i care for cpop but that is simply because i LOVE the sound of korean language
and chinese is ew in my ears , don't like the sound of it, sorry to say to those who love it
but yeah

when things are so fkin similar like crazy
how is it one country music stuff is loved way too much sometimes
and cpop is like ....................

I think a big thing is its easier to find content for kpop, it's pushed more to an international audience and therefore has english subs, promotion, ect while cpop is pushed in China and doesn't have the same ease of access.

I do like cpop songs but while kpop is actually supported and pushed by their government, cpop is not pushed at all. I don't think China believes in the concept of soft power

It just comes down to access and Kpop is the most accessible as it actually adjusted to the interest of Western fans for better and worse as if you had tried to find English content on Kpop around the 2008s then you'd have had a hard job like people do now with Jpop and Cpop

because its not access literally? if you google certain terms its easy to find?

Well it can be especially with Jpop as you can Google EXIDs original Japanese MVs and you'll only find the full MV for B.L.E.S.S.E.D out of the 3 they have done and the other 2 are just short versions with the full MV being part of the album

China is not a democratic country and listening to Chinese music might be a bit taboo. saying that you are interested in China or Chinese language might get you some weird looks. at least in Europe. sure, Korea too, but generally speaking Korea is better regarded than China. Same with Japan. Lots of people here love anime or are studying Kanji just for fun, generally speaking ... yes, there is some certain racism based on stereotypes of "Chinese eat dogs, China is an evil country" etc.

As an EXO-L I'm used to cpop, or at least how it sounds. Like others have said though it isn't as accessible so I never really searched for anything outside it.
