My memory retention is terrible nowadays so i read the 10 facts in the OP but might hv forgotten most of it after going to pg2, repetition is key here; which is ur native language tho? (I was reading the wikipedia page for ur countries official languages ytd n i was shocked, i say shocked tat theres no Swiss language, but theres a romansch language, which i gathered is some kinda latin variant.) So is french ur thinking language then?

I had such difficulties listening to german when i visited my uncle there, i tried learning the basics but only memorised tenses n couldnt grasp wat ppl were saying/on tv either, cos it was faster than i was used to.

So you are much better than most ppl cos you understand at least 3/4 languages tat are widely used in europe n the world.

The local languages in my country tat i can passably speak are only mostly regional or limited to speakers of same culture/those who study it to learn to understand the ppl/culture.

I understand perfectly French but I have to say my English and my German aren’t too bad

I mean i can understand basic or nowadays even more mandarin chinese, cantonese than when i was younger thru osmosis so its quite possible i could communicate with mandarin speaking ppl across the world, which probably cant with Romanche but i struggled for yrs to get to such a level n still hv problems with vocabulary of mandarin chinese cos theres 3000 freaking characters, also i cant read any. Your language skills are definitely better than most id say.
