Is it weird that for us in the UK, its October not February that we have Black history month here?
Ive had this conversation with American aqquintances they found it weird, but it's always been this way for us since I was little.

Well according to wiki... It was when it was first celebrated here officially.

For me I thought we all celebrated it in Feb, but looking at this, it totally makes sense why y'all celebrate in October. I wouldn't say it's weird.
