I don't think you can compare anime with kdramas or any other live action (?) show for that matter. It's like comparing telenovelas with cartoons: Totally different intentions, artistic values and demographics. Tbh, I haven't seen many kdramas to say they don't explore other topics besides the usual romance but I can tell you that anime explores themes that are difficult to find on any other medium esp. when you notice how sanitized korean media is in general.

depends, but honestly i see them as equivalents. Korea seems to nail more and (stereotypically) outlandish anime-ish concepts easier than both japanese dramas and american tv, though with some limitations. While anime can be just as realistic and grounded as korean and western tv unlike the current state of korean animation and a big chunk of western animation.

One could say kdramas are the closest we have to decently done live action anime because of the massive influence of anime and japanese entertainment in overall korean entertainment and especially in manhwa/webtoon, many of which have been adapted in the last few years with extreme success like Kingdom, The Uncanny Counter, Rugal, Love Alarm, Itaewon Class,, Mystic Pop-up Bar, Extracurricular and Sweet Home (just the ones off the top of my head) which seems to keep coming out and a big chunk of the kdrama industry is riding hard on the manhwa adaptation trend due to how succesful it's been.

Anime is still ahead of it most of the time in technical aspects since it's a more open medium by nature as well as popularity + censorship laws, but Kdrama is catching up at a decent pace thanks to netflix and honestly it's just really nice to see them succeeding lol, but a big chunk of their success and popularity comes from the strong japanese influence in their work. And i enjoy both (tho i suck at following both of them) and i see them as very similar mediums so i'm not really the type to pick lol.

I've watched very little k-dramas, they've never really appealed to me.
