What were some things you wish you would have known before moving out of your parents house?
Were there any expenses that surprised you? Any neccesities?

A necessity is knowing how to repair some basic things like how to change a lightbulb, how to change a tube in the kitchen, how to manage money, buying enough tools to help you repair those basics and if you are living alone, maybe knowing how to deal with loneliness.

Luckily pets will prevent the loneliness, thank you for the tips!

Learn as much financial stuff as you can: taxes, deductibles, loans, interest. Utilize NerdWallet if you have to.
Have tools around.
I already knew this but there's rent, water, electricity, and gas bills. Separately.

Off topic but be safe as well. Keep things locked, valuables out of sight of a window.

Errr no actually everything was pretty easy for me.
considering as a teenager I was managing my mother's bills and paying her debts.
Considering I grew up poor fot a good portion of my life my mother couldn't really hide the stuff that she didn't pay like electricity and heating, so I knew what needed to be paid, who to call and how to fix certain things in the home.
I was well prepared to be honest, despite the hardship of childhood.

Well, taking care of a dog alone was one of the biggest struggles when I moved out.

Oh I'm keeping tabs on this threads :susPepe:
Same

I haven't moved out but I spend my weekends at my gf's place so I've learned a lot about doing stuff as an adult/solo and the expenses that come with it... and the unexpected stuff you break and have to buy again cause you're clumsy.

Well, taking care of a dog alone was one of the biggest struggles when I moved out.
Luckily I will be moving with two other roommates and have experience with raising puppies, so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
