Can you forgive an idol´s past? (1 Viewer)

A good example would be Taeyong who has won the hearts of millions despite his past actions. What do you think? How much does it take to change YOUR opinion?

depends on what they did, if it's something like underage drinking or smoking then i couldn't care less. if it's something like bullying in school then i would only forgive if they have grown as a person and apologised to the victim because if the person who was bullied by them forgave them then i don't see why i wouldn't do the same thing. if it's something much worse than that (like sexual assault or serious crimes) then i don't think i would.

I feel like there is bullying and there is bullying though and people just use that word very lightly. saying to someone "you have an ugly shirt" might be a mean comment for someone while someone else might take it as bullying. how much does one have to apologize for snapping and not being a ray of sunshine? a lot of these accusations are "bullying" but they never go to deep into explaining what exactly has happened?

It depends what they did. If they hurt others then I don't know.
It's hard to say if an Idol is really remorseful or show’s growth, because they only show us what fans want to see.

i wish people would understand the difference between bullying and being mean, bullying is a repeat offense meaning the 'bully' was being mean to a person multiple times whereas being mean to a person ( which most of these bullying accusations happened) which is still wrong but not as serious as these accusers are making it.

YES! such accusations also belittle the real bullying that happens in schools and workplaces, but not everything can and should be labelled as bullying. it is a really frustrating and sad, but people are just too afraid to talk about it because if you say something, there will always be someone like "so you think bullying is ok?!" I didn´t say that .... and then you get into the vicious circle how teachers overlook bullying and how "Tommy told me I am fat when we were in the kindergarten and now I have low self-esteem" .

depends. sexual crimes and violence definitely not, but stuff like bullying, DUIs,... if they show genuine remorse and growth i might "forgive" them (even tho its not my place to forgive but.. you know what i mean) but i likely wont continue to support them. we all make mistakes but theres some things i just cant excuse

If it's in the past and doesn't reflect who they are now I don't think it's rly my business. Especially for stuff that happened when they were kid and/or predebut. I'm side-eying more of plp digging up stuff, speaks more about their character. Though I get with plp who actually were bullied cause that stays with u and if they think person is still that same bully who now gets lot of love and fans I get wanting to expose them- still don't know if it's right thing though.

For me, it depends on what they did, how long ago they did it, and how they conduct themselves in present day.
If what they did is something trivial like weed, then I honestly don't care all that much. If they did what they did in middle school and have clearly changed, then I also don't care much.
