Now I'm not going to talk about the ones people might typically say like: Jonghyun, Taemin, Taeyeon, CL, Hyuna, Sunmi or soloist idols who I think already get recognition for changing things up or proving a point with their concepts or solo debut.
I want to bring light to soloists I feel people tend to not really focus on or notice despite how I think they bring something new to the table.
One being Kim Sunggyu of Infinite. Now hear me out. There have been so many idols who make a solo debut and do well, they create music that either blows up or have a concept and style that is really fully supported by the community or adored. But Sunggyu is one who I feel gets glossed over and he even jokingly gets called a flop by his band mates for his solo music career but Let's be real here. He actually kind of changed the genre game a bit, I'm not saying he did something entirely new but I don't think I ever really heard songs like these before he came around and he added something more to Kpop:
You can say it isn't unique but I don't think many Kpop Group Soloists pursue this type of sound or genre or style.
I'm choosing one for females too and that is Subin from DalShabet. She is someone that kind of gets glossed over as well when it comes to idols having a solo music career however, she genuinely brings something new to the table. She has a very distinct sound to her voice if you ask me and then the very chill kind of haunting but beautiful vibes her songs give out is absolutely stunning but not ever talked about:
You can once again disagree with this but she is severely underrated and I think deserves some recognition for kind of doing something different in comparison to some other kpop group soloists.
Feel free to name some down below that you think often get overlooked!
