Are you pro or contra death penalty?
Does your country/state have the death penalty?

To answer the question myself :
I don't think you should kill someone no matter what the person did, this doesn't make you any better than that person.
I also want to add that there've been a lot of cases where people were executed and afterwards it was proven that they were innocent.

I believe all rapists should die, there's excuses for murder (self-defense or revenge) but not rape, ever. Unfortunately there's people who lie about it but if there's like video evidence or multiple (reliable) witnesses: kill them, preferably some torture sessions first

Ruining someone's life is worse than ending someone's life. If you end someone's life who ruined people's lives, you're a hero, not a criminal

I am especially pro death penalty for paedophiles because there is no cure for these scum. We put down dogs that harm children. So why not do the same to nonces that sexually harm children?
The only way that you can prevent a nonce from harming any more children in the future is by giving them the death penalty. End of.

A very difficult topic and I'm not sure of my words and what's right or wrong tbh but...... I guess I'm against it.. I feel llike it makes the world even less humane and also - dying is easy, living while suffering is a much worse and more appropriate punishment imo

You think murder is worse than rape? If you're sick to the point you ruin someone's lives like that and put their health at risk, you aren't even human in my eyes, there literally is no excuse. At least they can never hurt anyone ever again if they're dead. I feel the same about mass murderers but in many cases those kill themselves anyway

I guess that's true, but if they're locked up forever they can't either so...

I'm mostly against, but i think my belief of that has been shaken over some recent happenings in my country lately and i have started to think it might be bit better if some people were just put down..

So background for that i guess, my country doesn't have death penalty and in top of that the criminal system is extremely lax. The sentences are short even for murder, the life sentence is approximately 14 years and that's kinda short for life sentence.. in many crimes you don't get jail time you should get, in prisons you have tv in your room and playstation so you can just spent your sentence playing some video games though watching porn is apparently more popular there.

The outcome of this pretty lax system has been that some serial killers have been released after spending few years in prison, then after few weeks or months they murder someone again and end up jail, spent there bit more years and get released for good behavior or sth and then murder someone again and they are in jail for bit longer.. rinse and repeat. Maybe some people don't just get better..? Or others should at least be protected from them. If these serial killers got death penalty after their second murder, another innocent person wouldn't have had to die. But in other hand maybe they should have been just locked in some mental institute or sth, cause for me its kinda fucked up for someone to commit murder by administrating death penalty.

Some sickos that's been raping and killing children for years in my head doesn't deserve to live. BUT, I sort of think "just" killing them is letting them off too easy.. I mean things just end for them.. Rotting for the rest of their lives in a shitty prison let's them pay for forever. Day in and day out. Night and day. There's a reason some criminals kill themselves when they know they'll get caught and get a life sentence, because it's the easy way out compared to being in prison for the rest of their lives.

But also sick people and that can still harm others and have chances of escaping.. I don't mind them getting killed. Less monsters in the world. And obviously the proof must be 100% and the crime the worst crimes there are

I met a trans woman who got AIDS from her rapist, her family blamed HER because she's trans. What about those who get pregnant? Those who live in countries where abortion is illegal EVEN in such cases? I recently read a story about a 11 year old girl who got pregnant from her rapist, wasn't allowed to abort it, had to get a C section which almost killed her and the baby died anyways. If anyone reads this and still isn't conviced that rape is the worst crime or is pro-life even in such life threatening cases: please never interact with me again

I suppose that's true
But see for me, life is life. Living with family with cancer and chronic conditions, though they struggle and live in pain 24.7 they are so grateful to be alive, so I think living is better than dying, even if you were raped. I was abused at a young age by a close friend, but I recovered. I know everybody is different and I certainly cannot speak for rape victims, and it's sad that they got pregnant at such a young age, but I think I can't find the worst crime because they both are so horrible.

the idea of a single person being executed who was innocent (which has happened countless times) makes me more uneasy than guilty people rotting in jail.

i remember a case where a father of 3 (i think) was put to death because he was found guilty of setting his house on fire. he was able to survive but his kids died. the pattern of ignition at the house showed multiple starting locations so that made everyone think he set the fire deliberately (since an accidental one would be in a single location). but years after he was executed, investigators realized that accidental fires sometimes do this.

that man died locked up grieving over his kids and could've been released but he was put to death for it on bad evidence!!!!! we find better methods of proving someones guilt/innocence every year we live life. executing someone takes that away.

For. I don't think death is really the worst thing that can happen to someone. I also think that there are people who can't be helped, and that no matter how long you wait they won't change their ways. You could lock them up for the rest of their life, but for what reason? They could escape, and though they do work they aren't as productive members of society as a lot of other people are. I just feel that for certain crimes it's better off for both parties if the death penalty was allowed.

I personally like the Norwegian system.

They don't have the death penalty and no straight up life sentence either. I think it's that the judge can give you 20 years max and after those years they will evaluate you and if you are rehabilitated and reay to be released into society, if not, more time is added.

Their system is designed to rehabilitate the criminal, so that they can be released into the world as good people. As long as they can be redeemed, they should be able to be released. I find it very inhumane to sentence somebody who death, who if taught otherwise, could maybe in 15 years be somebody completely different. Why give somebody a life sentence if after 10 years they regreat what they have done and will never do it again.

That system is also efficient. Norwegian recedivism rates (Basically going back to prison after already having been there once) are the lowest in the world.

However there isn't really much difference in how criminals are treated given their crime, most people in prison have little torelance for paedophiles though so much so they are still protect in prisons and isolated for their protection, because despite violating someone's humans rights (a Vulnerable child's rights) their still allowed to keep theirs and be housed, clothed and even educated in prison...
that doesn't sit well with me, i feel for really serious crimes like the ones stated above if you willing commit these acts (Various exceptions like self-defence if it can be proven) you should automatically forfeit or have yours taken away..it just seems fair.

For petty crimes, we need better rehabilitation. I suppose i have a different view since i know people who have gone to prison for various things, i've seen them when they come out and why they go back in.

I don't like the way that the prison system runs in the US but I'm not completely anti-death penalty.
I can't find much sympathy for Serial rapists and killers but other than that, I don't support the death penalty
