I've stanned idols who are/were hella unpopular (bvndit, gao chong, heck kiki was getting ready to leave the ent industry in 2019), and I also stan successful ones; and from my experience, the main reason why people didn't go into those fandoms was because there weren't enough fans around to sustain their interest

for me it's more on the company's lack of resources such as english subtitles to m/v's and other content. without that, I can't truly devote myself to an artist.

the only underrated group i stan right now is laboum (used to be brave girls too but now they succeeded) and sure they don't have many achievements i could brag about but their music is all that matters to me. if someone stans a group only for their success and nothing else then i seriously don't understand it but also i don't think happens that often
