Do you join subreddits that are centered around the mental illness/disorder you have?

I just joined one not too long ago for a soft diagnosis I got and honestly...it's helping me alot.
Everyone there understands where I'm coming from and what I'm going through and their advice is really inciteful and helpful.
Since they've been dealing with their disorder way longer than I have-or at least been aware of it for themselves.

I wanted to know if you guys have maybe had the same experience?
Or if you agree or don't.

I haven't joined any mental health related subreddit myself although I'm in a lot of different subreddits pertaining to various topics. I like how you can basically find a subreddit for anything and find so many like minded people and stuff to talk about, Reddit is my fav website by a mile.

I genuinely enjoy Reddit a bunch myself. But I think finding a subreddit for a disorder I just got a "diagnosis" for makes me feel more seen and less scared?

Yep it's good to find a place where you can relate to others who might have gone through something similar, can give you their perspective and where you can just feel more accepted. Even though there might be other people who genuinely try to help, they might not be able to truly know the situation or offer advice on a level comparable to what others in that subreddit might.
Spending time and interacting with others there could be really therapeutic.

It definitely is-luckily I'm of course also in therapy and getting professional help but it's just nice to have a community of sorts on top of that.

I've never joined any subreddits for mental illness but I've joined some Facebook groups if that counts? I don't think I had a good experience with it it though. It felt like some people worse anxiety than I did and I felt bad because I didn't know how to help them. And if I didn't try to help I always guilty of it, so I just ended up just leaving the groups
