I just dont think it comes off as genuinely appreciation of art and artist most of time. It has gotten bit better, there is some good collabs born from genuine interest. But still lot of time i cant help but cringe when i see that ft. western artist

Same goes to talk show host and interviews. Lot of them come of rly fake and cloud chasing when they are talking to kpop groups. It feels more like they are treating kpop stars as prop for ratings than there to make good content with them.

Kpop fans are so obsessed with boosting their faves that it's impossible not for a collab to pay off. Can't count how many times I've seen brands bait armys into thinking they're super into BTS for a solid day, get 100× the engagement then go back to normal.

Out of all the collabs BP has had, I think Dua was the only one really interested in them

I mean it’s pretty clear most of the time who’s doing it for clout. idols are exposed to American entertainment from the minute they’re born and of course they grow up admiring these people. American artists though have never heard of Kpop or thought twice about Korea until all of a sudden their manager tells them they need to act enthusiastic about bts or blackpink

True, but both are doing it to further their careers right? I'm inclined to agree with you though.

Tbh I don’t really care, sometimes I like the music and sometimes I don’t. There’s definitely songs that would be better without a western artists collab.
