Those types of skirts are pretty versatile, you could style them to fit anywhere tbh. Like in the pic, they are wearing t-shirts and converse so it gives it a more casual look. A nicer shirt and some nicer shoes could change the whole outfit. And remember you can never be overdressed, only underdressed. (my gma used to tell me that all the time😊)
