what did you think of the hobbit movies? (1 Viewer)

as much as i love the movie (thranduil is really frucking hot guys lmao) it just doesn't hit just as well as the book. the cinematography is amazing and gorgeous, but there's a lot of wasted scenes I feel.

Assuming you meant Hobbit: Unexpected Journey; Desolation of Smaug & War of Five Armies, n not just the 6 movies with hobbits in em: i liked em but hvnt rewatched em much. They were fine n i watched em in IMAX 3D at the time but they dont hv as much of a hold on my heart as the LoTR trilogy, especially the extended dvd editions(watched those a few times almost every yr at a stretch till i dint anymore.)

Not sure i wver watched the Hobbit1,2,3 extended versions either(or if they even exist).

I admire Tolkien for who he was as a person, absolutely talented and so kind, but I have never been able to finish any book of his as he is SO descriptive and I almost feel ashamed to say boring.
I do love the cinematography of the movies though. LOTR is an epic series that together with HP absolutely charmed my childhood, the Hobbit movies (the third one especially) were a bit stretched out for the epicness of it, but hey I don´t mind.

yea I meant The Hobbit Trilogy. They're not as emotionally connected to me as the original LOTR series as well, something about the first three just really struck a chord. I haven't seen the Hobbit Extended editions either haha.

yeah, liking the movie or not the artistic direction of them were amazing!!

i also didn't read much of the books, I just read two towers and return of the king. But I finished the hobbit and I've read part of The Silmarillion as well. i love tolkien and the whole middle earth universe

i do recommend them!! if you're a super hardcore fan of the books and would dislike anything too extra, Ig i wouldn't watch it? they add a love triangle because ofc they do. but its really not too bad. the cinematography is great and i love the acting as well.
