i prefer physically holding a book, so it's disappointing when the library doesn't have a copy of something i'd like to read (this isn't the case for most things thankfully, although manga/comics can sometimes be an issue in this regard

...)

i'm always reluctant to write in books for fear of making them look messy, so i go for ebooks when i want to underline/highlight/annotate (mostly for school readings lol)

I love the smell and feel of a real book, so I prefer physical books. Manga is a different story, I prefer reading manga on my tablet.

Physical books before; ebooks after library I used to borrow from had long waiting times/not enough or no physical copies of books ard 2015/2016; s'how I read Reacher(from beginning to latest then), Butcher's Dresden Files, Grisham and many fantasy series > 10+ books in the series: Vorkosigan; Dragaera; Riftwar and maybe others since. I hv no space for any books now so only ebooks for me from now on!

To me reading a book is an experience beyond just reading a good story, it's about stepping away from the screen and enjoying things in a natural way that people have done for centuries. It's hard to explain but if you know you know - it just feels different. I've read a few e-books when I was younger but now that I have the means to buy them I don't see myself ever doing it again.
At my pace it isn't a very expensive hobby and books are a nice thing to collect, space does become an issue but cross that bridge when I reach it - I don't anticipate running out space for a very long time if ever.

i dont like e books all i have read is a few short stories or pre release chapters on the computer.
but i am working towards my 1000 Physicals :)
i have a kindle but have never used it. Got it for Guttenberg project books.

eBooks. They don't need physical space and they can't get dusty and yellow. You can collect your whole book collection on an USB drive (if the eBooks are without DRM, you removed the DRM, or you did your own scans). In case of a natural disaster, when you need to leave your home permanently, you can take all your books with you. Try this with the physical versions.

ngl I was starting to lose hope when it was back to back physical, physical, physical lol I prefer eBooks bc they're larger print, and the library and bookstores don't always have large print available. (I'm legally blind, so I need the large print)

Physical! I was reading Fourth Wing digitally, but I had to stop and get the physical book... It's just not the same! I love when you pull out an old book that you havent touched in a while and it just has that strong book smell MMMMMMMMMMM
