We have a final exams week or two weeks at the end of the semester where all classes have exams

sometimes they cover the whole class sometimes half

sometimes we have a big exam called a midterm in the middle of the semester, which is why sometimes the finals don't cover the stuff tested on the midterm

sometimes there's smaller tests, and quizzes, but those are not really close by for classes, whenever the teacher decided, for units, topics, etc

how does a semester works? how long is a semester?

ohh i see, i don't if it's only like because i'm still in high school but here's how it works for me:

we have exams every month. there are 4 gradings and each grading is about 2 months so like each grading we have 2 exams. i think that's pretty much it actually.

It's like that in high school too Just some classes are only a semester long in college, and most are a year long in high school, but not for all classes or all schools

a semester is half of the school year, and then we have the winter break in between (with christmas and new years) I think the "se" part means 2, I'm not sure tho And we have our summer break between school years. We don't just come back after the weekend and have a new semester or school year lol

some schools have 3 sections, and those are called "trimesters"
I wonder if they have 3 finals and where the breaks there are (the end of the school year to start of next school year break is still just the summer break tho)

I had trimesters in elementary school I think, but there wasn't really exams there, just some tests

Seems rigorous

The bad thing about having just a few but bigger exams tho is that if you mess up just a little, it makes a bigger effect on your grade so you have to do really well

I guess your gradings are like our semesters? Do you get a report card at the end of each grading?

Yeah, it seems one of the Austrailian timezones is the same as yours, so my thought process makes sense

One of my online classes is not only online, but asynchronous

Same If it's asynchronous, I'll be lazy and not do it immediately and only do it on the last minute lol but if it's synchronous, I sometimes get to do it right away

Yeah for asynchronous, it's like I have enough time, I can do other stuff I have to do too and end up doing it last minute too

Yeah asynchronous you have to do both the learning and the hw on your own with no schedule

Tbh for in person class I do it the morning before the class sometimes too, I try not too, but sometimes I suck at planning

Omg right that too and example if there's a homework for a subject on Monday but the teacher will only get to check it on Wednesday because of the class schedule, I mean you wouldn't always do it immediately on Monday night, right??? ....

And then you forget until it's already Wednesday

Honestly for a lot of classes for us they have online submissions even if it’s in-person tho so the due earlier but won’t check till later doesnt usually work

like stuff that you need to calculate rather than type like math and sometimes science, the hw you do on paper, but other stuff is mostly online submission

and ofc stuff like posters and all that would also be not online but mostly if you have to write anything or fill out a ws, they do it online

And when you're in online class, you'll get distracted I MEAN HOW CAN YOU NOT GET DISTRACTED WHEN YOU CAN JUST PRESS NEW TAB AND GO TO A WEBSITE YOU LOVE LOL

TODAY ONE OF MY IN PERSON CLASSES WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ONLINE (IDK MAYBE THE TEACHER COULDNT COME BC OF ROADS?) AND WE WERE GONNA WATCH A MOVIE TOO BUT I JUST SLEPT THRU IT I missed the whole class

OMG but it shouldn't be that bad, right? Or is it bad?
