Hyo response rings plausible to me. Being at a club doesn't mean you know everything that is occuring at the club when you're there. Especially if it's busy and dark, loud etc. Especially dependent on the layout. Are there multiple rooms, private sections, etc. Etc. I've walked in on guys...

The way I read this is he doesn't actually know. He just assumed she would have because she's a VIP.
