I didn't bleach. I used some kind of lighter to get from brunette to an auburn shade and then step by step to get blonde. This was 7 years ago tho, it took me a few years to get blonde. Plus, my natural hair color is dark blonde anyway so it contributed that my roots were anyway getting light
