Not in the same way I did as a teenager, but I still ask before doing anything. It’s out of respect. “You still ask for permission even though you’re an adult?” - Yes I do. I still live with them and rely on them for transportation when I can’t take a bus so it’s common courtesy.

We have a rough idea of what to get as we make a short list but its not extensive. Like if we need vegetables, we will get 2-3 that are on sale but not any specific. Same with snacks.
