I wish I could ask my gramma if this was true, bc she was a young adult in 1943, but she's been dead now since 2012. She was a big storyteller, so I imagine she'd have a lot to say about it.

I was asked a few years ago what high school I go to. I looked them straight in the eyes and said in a deadpan voice, I was like, "I'm in my thirties." They just dropped it after that, thank God. lol I gotta hand it to them, though - I really do look and act younger than I am. lol
