Kind of sad, there's some great r&b and lofi and electronic that people anywhere who like those genres would love. At least Mid Air Thief (and by extension, Summer Soul) got some recognition for Crumbling from the western hipster crowd last year. I try to keep up. When I'm not slacking I check...

In my experience here and in that other place, it seems there are very, very few people interested in non-idol music, so if it's a matter of getting the most out of the time you spend, it's probably more worth it to just limit things to idol stuff.
