Award shows are, in part, supposed what was popular within the country, what was successful and who did well with in the year. They've always been heavily dependant on sales. Even if you bring up the quality argument, I'm not seeing or hearing anything that puts them below the other groups...

I don't understand how korean groups with korean members singing korean songs based in korea are anything but Korean. They may promote in the states and occasionally make songs catered towards the west but that's never been an issue for idol groups that go to Japan or China. Here in the states...
