WHAT IS CONSIDERED 1st GEN??
Depending on who you talk to the 1st gen of K-pop idols is anyone who debuted between 1990 - 2000, 1990 - 2002, 1990 - 2003 (to include people like BoA). I personally (and some others) prefer to put BoA as a 2nd gen, since she is part of the START of the HALLYUWAVE. So anyone before the spreading Korean music (those debuted from 1990 - 2002) would be 1st gen.

This way helps to separate the BEFORE HALLYUWAVE (1st), start Hallyuwave (2nd) and continuation of Hallyuwave (3rd, 4th gens) periods of Korean music history.

My top favorites from 1st gen is SECHSKIES and BABY V.O.X.
But I think I should prolly include SHINHWA too since I keep seeing SHINHWA memes on my Twitter timefeed.





I tried to post iconic moments. SECHSKIES most iconic moment is that one "Chivalry" performance-but I think that's NSFW soooo here's the part switch "Chivalry" performance. Both this part switch and the..NSFW esque performance was done to prove that SECHSKIES didn't lipsync like all the rumors said they were at the time.

I've been replaying Eun Jiwon's teaser for his comeback "I'm on Fire" for awhile now.

And oooo another 1st gen comeback. So it seems like so far we've had S.E.S, SECHSKIES, EPIK HIGH and SHINHWA comeback recently. (like 2017 and after) I feel like I may be forgettin someone but....I tried!

Yeeeaa I went by the 1990 - 2001, 1st gen bracket. Epik High started in like 2001. I don't really see much stuff about their 2001 days probably because they were hecka NUGU.

Honestly, I came to the point where I was like: "There's no way I can add in all the artists and groups from the 1st gen in this. There's literally so many that debuted and came out". So I had to just be like AND MORE. Sorry.

Plusss it'll help with the whole grand dispute of when K-pop 1st gen begins and ends. I didn't put TVXQ, BoA, Big Mama, Dynamic Duo, Buzz, other groups that debuted in 2003 in the list because I don't believe they belong. I feel like they started a new generation-a generation of K-pop where K-pop begins to spread to other Asian countries. And because of the spreading to other Asian countries I believe there was a shift in the industry enough to want to separate the before and after.

BUUUUUUUUT I'm not going to stop or really object to someone wanting to include TVXQ and others that debuted in 2003 in here.

It'll probably would've been easier if I made this thread a 1st gen and 2nd gen one buuuuuut I always hear about 2nd gen and never like 1st gen.

Overall, I feel like I did well considering I added in Hitchhiker, KISS, 015B, INK, SHINVI, etc since I don't ever see people talk about them....like EVER.

G.O.D is my favorite Kpop group of the first generation. They make meaningful songs which bring attention toward social issues such as poverty and immigration like in To mother. They also really captured the essence from adolescence to manhood. And they still release quality until today. Their last comeback, Leave him is 2018 is great







BoA is also my queen. She is so talented and born to be a star. Her last songs are good but her early discography outsells basically everyone in my heart.

I love how this channel is uploading stage mixes of Baby V.O.X. This is the most recent one of "eorihaneun nal". What does this mean in English? I have no idea.
All I know is this song isn't as popular as "Get Out", "Yayaya", "Coincidence", "Killer" and "Why".
