Off the top of my head I can’t think of a single female character I’ve actually liked :jisoosmh: I really don’t know why authors can’t make them not annoying
Well...most of my favorite characters are female

Hmm that’s a good question!
They really can’t stop writing the strong independent woman who’s basically just a man with long hair. Blehhhh.
Wait no actually I can think of a girl character! The protagonist of Forest of a Thousand Lanterns was awesome

Do you know any girl characters who actually embrace being feminine? No “I don’t need no man” attitude but also isn’t a sniveling worm?

welcome back !! :sanapray: you read a wider rage of genres then i do, i should try diversifying :haylul: these all look quite interesting ! the only ones i've read are the tokyo ghoul volume and i dnf "the guilded ones" :wimwim:

i just resumed reading after about two months of nothing, and so far i've read "carmilla" by sheridan le fanu (if you enjoy wlw and early vampire fiction, you'll dig this. it's gorgeous), "crush" by richard siken (my favorite work of poetry ever), and "the metamorphosis" by kafka, along with miscellaneous myths from various cultures.

"the beautiful ones" sounds intriguing just from a glance at the genre alone. could you give me the run-down ?? :susPepe:

also, i'd love to be tagged in future threads :pandalove:

There is a female protagonist or two in The Great Library series who are incredibly intelligent. One is Muslim and her name is Khalila shes feminine but strong and while she ends up in a relationship she's independent and doesn't really rely on her partner (who is also an interesting character). We have Glain who I believe doesn't really identify as female or male in all honesty-but she starts out female at least?

Morgan is another character in the series who I adore. She's feminine and strong but intelligent and doesn't rely on her love interest either. (This is probably my favorite series though too).

We mainly follow a guy through the series but it is basically a found family type thing and there is BL in it with some important characters but not our main guy.

YAY I'D LOVE TO TAG YOU!

Also, The Beautiful Ones takes place in like Victorian Era France and follows a young woman, Nina who comes from a rich family but isn't seen as fit for society because she was raised in the country. She also has the ability to move things with her mind which is also frowned upon for a lady to be able to do that to the point that people call her witch. But she moves to the city and stays with her cousin and his HORRID wife and is being taught how to be a proper lady by her. She ends up falling head over heels for a man named Hector who uses his own telekinetic ability to entertain the high society folks. But he has a history with someone other than Nina that messes things up and complicates matters.

Honestly...I did not expect to love this book as much as I did but oof.

It was my most anticipated read of the year and it let me down a bit but I still enjoyed it. I liked following Naema's character she was like snarky but in a way where she completely owned it and it was refreshing.
