Dunno if this should be under sensitive or not but just wanted to be safe.
I haven’t been here much in the last few days because I honestly just don’t want to pretend that everything is okay on here, but I also don’t want to be depressing, but again, don’t like to pretend that everything is alright… My brain is too much even for me
Anyways, a few days ago my parakeet passed away from old age. It brought back everything I was feeling when my kitty passed away earlier this year. One of the hardest things when losing an animal is no longer having them part of your routine, you feel like your missing part of yourself and it’s this horrible feeling. I was also just so angry that I had to say goodbye to another pet this year, I knew he was old and was showing signs of decline but I really thought he had more time.
Then, this afternoon I realized my oldest hen, Cayenne wasn’t looking good. My mom and I got to take a closer look at her tonight to check her crop, vent, etc… and unfortunately she’s showing all the signs of a chicken dying of old age. Idt she has more than 48 hours left tbh. And as most of you know I is the resident chicken lady here and truly love my chickens so much, so I’m really not ready to say goodbye to our old girl.
In situations like this I just always ask myself “Why?” because it really feels so incredibly cruel to have to say goodbye to 3 amazing pets in under 6 months. And then there’s the other part of me that knows it’s part of life and that I can’t allow myself to hide away from the world because it only causes more harm to myself rather than good. It’s a battle in my head basically which is tiring.
I guess I’m basically making this thread to tell myself and anyone else who’s struggling to just continue on and that everything will improve with time. It doesn’t mean those bad feelings go away but you become better at tackling them day by day, some days might be harder but that’s alright.
Sending my love to all of you
