2021 is the battle of bl adaptations from the sheer number of them filming and coming out this year
it’ll probably leave post production in 2022, but chasing the light seems really promising imo: the source material is really sweet, and I love all the main cast (wang anyu and wang shengdi <333)

by making the protags the “jaded old masters” instead of the typical innocent but dumb kid who had his entire family clan killed yearning for revenge/justice, it offers a fresh perspective without losing the essence of wuxia, the moral grayzone of the jianghu
the way they did the usual “good” vs “bad” martial sect’s teaching with the second pair via the younger generation instead of the same gen as the protags was also refreshing, even if they did follow the typical ending of having them both die lol, it offers an alternate way of viewing hope for the future
