This actually starts out in the main character's fiance's POV, but then it switches to hers - you'll see why.

Chapter 1: Goodbye and Good Riddance
Word count: 706

Dylan’s POV

“This is it, bro!” my older brother Drew said just before we headed to the church to marry my fiancée, Lizzie. “In a few hours, you’ll no longer be a bachelor!”

“I guess you can say goodbye to hitting up the girls at the bar, huh?” my friend Clayton added.

That was when it hit me. I was only nineteen, and I was about to be a married man. That meant I had to commit the rest of my life to one woman; was I really ready for that?

I sighed, sat down, and held my head in my hands. “You know what, Drew? I don’t know if I’m ready after all. I mean, I’m technically still a kid!”

“You’re not getting cold feet, are you, dude?” Clayton asked.

I stood up again. “It’s more than cold feet. I think we should skip the wedding and go road tripping.”

Drew formed an O with his lips. “Dylan, that’s betrayal!” he scolded. “Lizzie is going to be so pissed if she doesn’t see you at the altar!”

I glared at him. “Then so be it! I’m just not ready to get married yet!”

~~~~~
Lizzie’s POV
I waited patiently as my best friend Gabby, who was to be the maid of honor at my upcoming wedding, finished styling my hair. It was the morning of the wedding, and I was getting butterflies in my stomach just thinking about spending the rest of my life with my high school sweetheart, Dylan.
“Okay, all done!” Gabby announced momentarily, handing me a mirror. “What do you think, Mrs. Blackburn?”
I smiled as I looked in the mirror. My ash blonde hair was done up in a fancy French braid.
“I love it,” I said. “Thank you, Gabby!”
“You’re so welcome! Now, let’s do your makeup.”
After I was done getting all dolled up for the big day, I met my dad at the front door so he could bring me to the wedding.
“Well, don’t you look beautiful, sweetheart!” he complimented. “Did you finish writing those vows yet?”
“Yes, I did,” I affirmed. “I know exactly how to incorporate the news that I’m having twins, too.”
I’m twelve weeks pregnant with Dylan’s babies, and the pregnancy was part of the reason we decided to get married early.
Dad laughed. “I was wondering when you were going to tell him! That’s important information.”
***
In the church sanctuary, I discovered the altar was missing someone extremely vital: Dylan.
“Dad, where’s Dylan?” I whispered in Dad’s ear.
“Beats me,” he whispered back. “Maybe he got stuck in traffic or something.”
“Actually, he got cold feet,” the preacher said as he approached us. “I’m so sorry, Elizabeth – I believe you’ve just been jilted.”
My face turned beet red with anger. “What?!” I practically screamed. “I was looking forward to this day ever since he proposed, and he’s just now backing out?! I even had the news of our twins incorporated in my vows!”
“Well, honey… I guess God had other plans for you. You are only seventeen, after all. You’ve got plenty of time to find somebody new!”
I rolled my eyes. “Like I ever will! That’s it – I’m calling Dylan to break up!”
Holding up the skirt of my dress, I stopped back out, got in Dad’s car, and angrily dialed Dylan’s number. I got more and more pissed as each ring sounded until Dylan finally answered with, “Ah, shit! Lizzie?!”
“’Ah, shit’ is right, jackass!” I spat. “How DARE you ditch me on our wedding day!”
“Babe, I had to go into work!”
I didn’t believe him for one single second. In the background, I heard a combinations of road noise, a car radio, and enthusiastic chatter amongst Dylan’s brother and friends.
“I am NOT interested in lip service today. In fact, it’s over, and we’re not redoing the wedding!”
“But Lizzie—”
I stomped my foot in exasperation. “We’re DONE, Dylan Blackburn, and you’ll NEVER see MY CHILD – EVER!”
His friends could be heard laughing in the background.
“Ooh, you’re in trouble!” one of them teased.
“Damn fucking right he’s in trouble! No man jilts his PREGNANT fiancée and gets away with it! Goodbye, Dylan, and good riddance!”
Chapter 2: My Sister's Wedding
Word count: 1040
THREE YEARS LATER
“Okay, you’re all done!” I said during my job as a pet groomer. I was saying this to my last client of the day, a sheltie named Coco. For the most part, she hadn’t minded being pampered one bit.
Coco leapt off the table, and I put a pink bandana around her neck as a reward for being so good.
Coco’s owner, a woman in her late forties, came in just as I was giving her a goodbye hug. When she saw her owner, Coco perked up and wagged her tail.
“Come here, Coco!” the owner called, patting her thighs. Coco obeyed, and the woman gave her some love and clipped her leash to her collar.
“So, Coco was amazing,” I reported. “She did nip a little when I first tried to brush her, but other than that, she did great!”
“That’s good,” she said, following me to the register so I could ring her up.
After the transaction was over, I said goodbye to my boss and coworkers and headed out to pick Avery and Aria up from preschool.
When I got there, the twins’ class was playing with various toys around the room. Avery was playing with a toy kitchen in the far-left corner, and Aria was immediately nearby, quietly flipping through the pages of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. As I approached, Avery stopped what she was doing and put her arms out for a hug.
“Hey, Avery!” I greeted. “What are you doing?”
“I make pizza!” Avery announced, grinning as she held out a fake pizza slice. I pretended to take a bite.
“Oh, that’s delicious! And Aria, are you reading a book?”
“Mm-hmm,” Aria mumbled, continuing to turn the pages.
“Well, it’s time to put the toys down so we can go home, okay?” I said to both girls. In response, they reluctantly abandoned their toys and each took one of my hands.
After I signed them out, I led the twins to my car, where I told them to climb into their car seats and buckle up. Then, I got in the driver’s seat and pulled out of the parking lot.
***
I had just turned into our driveway when I got a FaceTime call from my sister.
“Hey, Lizzie,” Bridget greeted after I said hello. “You know how I’m getting married in a couple months, right?”
I rolled my eyes. “You’ve only mentioned it seventeen million times,” I said. Ever since her fiancé, Wen-Ming, proposed to her, Bridget would never shut up about plans for the wedding.
“Well, I was just wondering – how would the girls like to be joint flower girls?”
“Bridget, you know I hate weddings; you were one of my bridesmaids, remember?!”
“Aw, come on!” Bridget egged on. “What’s more adorable than a pair of twins scattering flowers down the aisle?”
I glanced in the rearview mirror, through which I saw that Avery and Aria were listening with bright expressions on their faces. I heaved a big sigh and said to Bridget, “Well, the girls do seem excited by the opportunity. They can be flower girls.”
Bridget squealed with delight. “Thank you, sis! You’re the best!”
“Sure, no problem.”
***
“Avery, would you like to ring the doorbell?” I asked as Avery, Aria, and I stood in front of Bridget’s front door. It was two months later, and two days before Bridget’s wedding.
Avery gladly accepted and ended up pushing the doorbell a very annoying number of times. I stopped her just as Bridget opened the door for us.
“Hey, sis!” Bridget remarked, giving us each a hug and letting us in. “And goodness gracious, you two munchkins are growing up before my very eyes!”
When Bridget’s black Shih Tzu, Prince, came up to greet us, Avery was quick to smother him in kisses. In response to this sudden intrusion, Prince nipped at her, and she jumped back.
“Mama, why he do that?” Avery asked me.
“It’s because you’re being too rough on him, pumpkin,” Bridget replied. “Aria, do you want to give him some love?”
I spotted one of Prince’s toys on the floor and gave it to Aria. “Here, toss this and see what happens!”
Aria did so, and she giggled when Prince pounced on it and carried it back in his mouth.
“Where’s Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome?” I asked Bridget.
“Wen-Ming is out running a couple of errands,” Bridget explained, “but he’ll be back soon. I can’t wait for y’all to meet him!”
“Me either,” I agreed.
After I set the kids up with some of their favorite toys, Bridget and I proceeded to sit down and have a nice chat. We eventually got on the subject of hers and Wen-Ming’s honeymoon.
“We’re going to Kho Tao, Thailand,” she reported. “Wen-Ming loves Thai food and I love beaches, so we thought this would be the perfect compromise.”
“Ooh, I’m jealous! When are you leaving?”
“Probably over Christmas; that’ll give us time to apply for passports and everything.”
Fifteen minutes later, the door opened, and a young man entered with a smile on his face. He was tall and muscular, with olive skin, shaggy, sandy blond hair, and dark-rimmed glasses.
“Oh, our company arrived,” he commented in a slight Mandarin accent, bowing before me. “Is this your sister?”
Bridget nodded. “This is Lizzie,” she introduced. “The kiddos are Lizzie’s twins, Avery and Aria.”
“Nice to meet you all,” the man said, shaking my hand. “I’m Li Wen-Ming.”
“Likewise,” I said.
“You know, you seem like you’d be perfect for my friend Jung-Kook – he’s also one of my groomsmen for the wedding.”
I glared at Wen-Ming. “No,” I said bluntly. “Sorry, but I’m not interested.”
“Lizzie, you’ve been moping around over that stupid wedding of yours for three years now,” Bridget argued. “It’s time to get over it already!”
“One doesn’t simply get over being jilted, Bridget. And before you start going on about how the girls need a father figure, I think I’m managing perfectly fine on my own, thank you very much!”
“Please let me introduce you to Jung-Kook,” Wen-Ming added. “I can definitely tell you that it’ll be well worth it.”
I sighed. “Well, alright… but don’t expect anything to come of it!”
Chapter 3: Jung-Kook's Intro
Word count: 1224
The next day, the whole afternoon was spent rehearsing for the wedding. I had spent the bulk of that morning preparing Avery and Aria for their duties as Bridget’s flower girls, and by noon I was completely confident that they’d do a good job.
After ceremonial rehearsals were done, we all retreated to the reception hall for speech rehearsals, dinner, and dancing. The reception hall that had been rented was huge, and half the room was occupied by several round, cloth-covered tables situated in a checkerboard pattern. The other half would act as a dancefloor.
“You two were very good during rehearsals,” I commented to the twins over dinner. “How did you like it?”
“Yes!” Avery answered with a mouthful of food.
“Do it again?” Aria asked with bright eyes.
“Avery, we don’t talk with our mouths full,” I corrected. “And yes, you get to do it again tomorrow.”
Aria glanced at the dancefloor, where several people were already dancing to the music. “I wanna dance!” she requested, pointing towards the dancefloor.
“Not tonight, hon,” I said. “As soon as we’re done eating, we’re going to go back to Auntie’s; it’s almost bedtime.”
“But we’re not tired!” Avery complained.
“Well, if you don’t get enough sleep tonight, you’ll be cranky tomorrow for church, okay? We can dance tomorrow during the wedding lunch.”
“Okay…” Aria said, finally giving in.
After we were done eating, I was getting ready to head out with the twins when I heard Wen-Ming calling my name.
“Are you leaving already?” he asked.
I nodded. “It’s almost the kids’ bedtime, so yes, we’re heading out now. I hope you don’t mind.”
“Ah, but don’t you remember? You told me I could introduce you to Jung-Kook.”
I rolled my eyes, as I was hoping he’d have forgotten this by now. “Yeah, I know… but if I don’t take them to bed now, they’ll get super-cranky and rambunctious.”
Bridget came up and wrapped her arms around Wen-Ming’s neck. “I’ll take them home and put them to bed,” she said to me. “Go ahead and have your fun.”
I looked into Wen-Ming’s pleading eyes and then averted my gaze to Avery and Aria. “You two go with Auntie Bridget, okay? I’ll see you in the morning.”
“We’re not tired!” Aria complained, throwing herself on the floor in a screaming fit. By the time I could intervene, people had already started staring at us.
“Maybe she should’ve kept those goddamn legs shut!” I heard an elderly woman comment. I was about to lunge towards her and give her a piece of my mind when Bridget pulled me back.
“Well, maybe YOU should’ve kept your goddamn MOUTH shut and minded your own biscuits!” she fired back as I silently took Aria outside to talk to her.
“Aria, do you know what you just did?”
“I throw a fit,” Aria whimpered.
“Yes, and we don’t do that in public; it’s very embarrassing. Now, Auntie Bridget is going to take you home for the night so you can go to bed, okay?”
Aria nodded in agreement. I wiped her eyes with my hand, kissed her goodnight, and returned to the reception hall.
“Sorry about all that,” I said to Wen-Ming. By this time, a guy I assumed was Jung-Kook had joined him. “I think they’re at the peak of their terrible twos.”
“That’s fine,” Wen-Ming said. “So, this is my friend, Jeon Jung-Kook. Jung-Kook, this is my future sister-in-law, Lizzie.”
“It is a pleasure to meet you, Lizzie,” Jung-Kook said in broken English, pronouncing my name as “Lee-gee”. I had to admit, it was extremely cute when he said it like that. Jung-Kook bowed before me.
“You, too,” I said, shaking his hand. “How long have you been friends with Wen-Ming?”
“We met in grade school,” Wen-Ming answered. “My family and I had just moved to Busan, and Jung-Kook was the first friend I made there.”
“Where in America are you from?” Jung-Kook asked me.
“I’m from Orange Park, Florida,” I said. “It’s a city near Jacksonville, which is on the southeast coast. Where’s Busan located?”
Jung-Kook laughed. “It’s also on the southeast coast of South Korea. What a… ah… how you say in English?”
“A coincidence?”
“Ah, yes!” He chuckled nervously. “Sorry… English is not my first language.”
“It’s okay! Your English is actually not half bad.”
“Thank you, Lizzie. Do you want to dance?”
I thought about it and shrugged. “I guess a little dancing wouldn’t hurt. Are you a good dancer?”
“Yes, I am. And you?”
“You could say that.”
Jung-Kook and I stepped onto the dancefloor, and we danced our legs off for a good hour before deciding to take a rest. Jung-Kook had been truthful about being a good dancer. In fact, he even twirled me around a few times during the night.
***
“Did you have fun?” Jung-Kook asked as we sat on a bench against the front of the building. We’d decided we were done dancing and had come out for a quiet place to chat. “I did!”
“So, did I,” I admitted, taking the opportunity to get a good look at my dance partner. Jung-Kook was short and thin with dark brown hair in a bowl cut and jet-black eyes. His nose was long and narrow, his jaw sharp and angular. Overall, he was way more attractive than I expected him to be.
I must have been staring at him a little too long because he suddenly waved his hand in my face and said, “Hello? I asked you a question.”
“Oh!” I said, blushing as I snapped back to reality. “Sorry, I was caught up. What was your question?”
“Will you like go out with me?” Jung-Kook asked with a bright smile. “Maybe… after wedding?”
I blinked twice to try and process what he just said. “You didn’t just ask me out,” I said hastily. I could sense that I was developing a crush on Jung-Kook, but I didn’t like that. Even though it had been three years since my jilting, I still wasn’t quite ready for somebody new.
Jung-Kook threw his head back and laughed. “Yes, that’s exactly what I’m doing! Would you like to, or no?”
“Um…” Quick, Lizzie! Think of a reason not to take his invite! “Sorry, I have to head to the airport then – my flight home is at 2 pm.”
Just then, I heard Wen-Ming let out a loud laugh. I turned and saw him leaning against the building with his arms crossed. “Wrong!” he countered. “She drove here, dude. Lizzie, just accept his invite; he’s even giving you puppy-dog eyes!”
I groaned internally and turned back to Jung-Kook. Sure enough, his eyes looked like a begging dog’s. “Okay, I’ll go out with you. What did you have in mind?”
“Maybe take a walk in the park?” Jung-Kook suggested. “That would be nice, yes?”
“Yeah, that does sound nice! Pick me up at my sister’s house at three, and I’ll help us get there.”
“I will pick you up, then. What’s the address?”
I told Jung-Kook Bridget’s address, and he wrote it down on a napkin he’d had in his pocket. Then, he yawned and said, “I am very sleepy, so I think I’ll head to the hotel for bed. It was nice meeting you, Lizzie.”
“You, too,” I agreed, shaking Jung-Kook’s hand.
Chapter 4: My Date With a K-Pop Idol
Word count: 945
The wedding the next day was actually beautiful, as was the reception. Bridget and Wen-Ming had written their own vows, and I could’ve sworn I saw Bridget tear up as Wen-Ming read his. The reception consisted of relatives on both sides of the family toasting the newlyweds, wedding pictures, a four-tier wedding cake, and of course other food and dancing.
Back at Bridget’s house, I showered and changed into more casual clothes for my date. I was ready just in time for Jung-Kook to ring the doorbell.
“Hello,” Jung-Kook greeted with a bow after I opened the door. “You look pretty; I almost didn’t recognize you out of your wedding clothes.”
I blushed at Jung-Kook’s statement. “Thank you,” I said with a nervous laugh. “You look cute, yourself.”
“Thank you.”
It took a lot longer than usual to get to the park, as Jung-Kook was having a hard time understanding my directions. I didn’t mind, though, because I was more than happy to help.
“How did you like the wedding?” he asked as we walked along the park trails.
“It was actually great,” I admitted. “I loved everything about it. What did you think of the flower girls?”
“They were adorable. What are their names?”
“Thank you! Their names are Avery and Aria, and they’re two and a half.”
“Where is their father? Why you are not still with him?”
“Because it just didn’t work out between us. We were both young.”
I didn’t care to tell Jung-Kook the truth, partly because I wasn’t ready to and partly because he was still pretty much a stranger at this point. Luckily, he took this as an answer and moved on.
“You say you live in Florida, yes?” he asked me.
“Yeah, near Jacksonville,” I reminded him.
“Do you go to the beach a lot?”
I laughed, remembering Avery and Aria constantly begging me to take them to the beach. “Oh, definitely! The twins love going there, and it’s only about fifteen minutes away from home, so I usually don’t mind taking them.”
“That’s cool.” Jung-Kook paused in thought for a moment before adding, “Have you heard of BTS before?”
I raised an eyebrow. “Who?”
“BTS – it’s a Korean pop group I am in.” He saw my face light up and continued, “You like that.”
“Yeah, that’s very interesting,” I said. “I’ve never dated anyone in a music group before. Are you famous?”
Jung-Kook shrugged. “Somewhat. We are better known in Korea, but we are also getting recognition in other places.”
“How long have you been together?”
“Only a couple of years. There are seven of us, by the way – three rappers and four vocalists.”
“Oh, cool! So, what about you – do you sing or rap?”
“I am one of the vocalists, but I can also rap and dance. What do you do for living?”
“I’m a pet groomer. It’s what I’d wanted to do since I was a little girl.”
Jung-Kook smiled, and my heart melted. “You like animals? Me too!”
“Oh, yeah, especially dogs. Do you have any pets?”
“I have a small dog named Mitzi – she is Pekingese, my favorite dog breed.”
“Aw, I’ll bet she’s adorable! I’m more of a medium-sized dog fan, but small dogs are nice.”
Jung-Kook spotted a park bench, and we sat down together. “Do you want to see pictures?”
“Absolutely!”
Jung-Kook fished his phone out of his pocket and did some tapping before he showed me the picture he’d pulled up. Mitzi was standing on all fours and appeared to have been wagging her tail when the picture was taken.
“That’s really cute,” I commented, giving Jung-Kook his phone back. “My family and I had a dog growing up; he was a golden retriever named Copper.”
Jung-Kook smiled again. “I’ll bet he was handsome! Is he still alive?”
“He was – he was the perfect family pet, too. Unfortunately, he died three years ago from old age, though.”
“Oh,” Jung-Kook said, his smile fading. “Do you miss him?”
“Yeah, sometimes. I do miss having a dog around, though.”
Just then, a cool breeze rushed over my body as the sky started to turn gray. I quickly covered my arms with my hands to prevent them from getting cold.
“You are cold?” Jung-Kook asked.
“Yeah,” I responded. “I thought it wasn’t supposed to get chilly until later tonight, so I didn’t think to bring a jacket.”
“You want mine? I give you mine, okay?”
I shook my head no. “It’s alright, you really don’t have to.”
“I can take the cold,” Jung-Kook argued. He pulled his arms out of his denim jacket and placed it over my shoulders. “There you are!”
I put my arms through the holes and instantly felt warmer.
“You like?”
“Oh, yeah – this is comfy!” I remarked. “Thank you.”
He shrugged. “I just don’t like seeing people be uncomfortable.”
Jung-Kook and I spent the next hour or so getting to know each other better. At about 5:30, it started to rain, so Jung-Kook drove me back to Bridget’s. When we arrived and Jung-Kook walked me to the door, he said, “I have had good time with you, Lizzie.”
“I did, too,” I admitted with a smile. “We’ll have to do this again sometime; you seem like a great guy.”
Jung-Kook’s eyes widened with surprise. “Really? I never hear that from a girl before.”
“Well, you should hear it more often. You’re sweet, charming, and you’ve got good looks to boot!”
“Thank you. I will love to see you again; you still have my number?”
“I sure do!”
“Good. I leave now, okay? Have good evening!”
“You, too!” I said, waving goodbye as I let myself in.
