I think basically the story of Snowdrop is portraying historical figures who were very bad as not very bad which acts as propaganda

i don't have netflix but this is more or less the same thing, just not a documentary but historical fiction

What's it about for them to alter historical events

from what i read on reddit it's about the 1980s student riots to democratize south korea and how the government "fairly" tortured and killed "north korean communist spies" who were actually just students from South Korea pushing for change. the drama is apparently portraying the government as being right and somehow justified for killing these students since the main character is a north korean spy lending credibility to the fact that the "government was right".

from what i read of it on reddit, this should definitely be canceled. i haven't seen the drama but if they are talking about what the South Koreans say, which is the most unanimously good thing in Korea to happen - the riots that lead to their freedom - then South Koreans will take it very personally if it's portrayed as the students being wrong for protesting a dictatorial regime.

Let's say, If you take the most wholly good and important thing in your country to happen and say yeah well actually the people who fought and died for it should've been tortured and killed because the government that oppressed them was actually right, I don't think other countries people would take it nicely
