The Old Child
I must kill the child of the old name
To deliver one with a better moniker
He doesn’t bleed red
He bleeds purple
I’ve tried everything
He’s a lost cause
He’s a cold blooded mammal
Much like a snake
He used to be vibrant and youthful
Like a fruit from Idunn’s tree
Now he ambles about like an elderly man
Constant fear fills his eyes
He doesn’t want it to happen again
But what happened, you query
A bus that keeps driving
It makes no stops
You wish to depart
But the operator halts it
He padlocks the doors
You cannot go
Just be obedient and have a seat
Hopefully the petrol will run out
This ride will be over
The child of new name
He doesn’t remember the bus
He’s more obedient
More quiet
Not a worry except to open his eyes
To breathe air
But he’s always getting into things he shouldn’t
I give him plenty lashes for it
But he doesn’t embody filth
Not shame either
That’s why he’s perfect
Atop the old child’s coffin
Lied my weapon of choice
A telephone. Particularly,
the cord
I
am nothing but an illusion

So do not focus on my voice
