Another random fact about the Halifax Explosion in 1917

Despite so many people dying that day, only one crew member of the Mont Blanc passed away (the Mont Blanc was the ship in the collision carrying the explosives). This is because the explosion was not immediate, but rather took about 20 minutes to happen. Knowing the dangerous cargo onboard, the crew of the Mont Blanc immediately ran as far as they could. They tried to warn others as they ran, but were not understood both because of the noise and commotion and because the crew did it speak any English.
