Chart Aespa's "Next Level" enters Melon top 5!! (1 Viewer)

Quite an achievement for a rookie group especially after Melon chart reforms, especially considering how even big idol groups like Twice, Itzy, all boygroups minus BTS etc have failed to do so.




Despite the song being polarizing for us, Korean gp seem to love it because the sound reminds them of SMP music, and they only just started promoting so to already enter Top 5 is impressive af. Sadly, getting a win rn might be tough with BTS Butter blocking everybody, but they might pick up wins in some shows where BTS aren't eligible. The other obstacle would've been Oh My Girl but seems they're done with promotions too, so Aespa should be able to win something.

Yeah but idk if anyone really remembered this song when the movie was out lol.
It's pretty catchy in parts and has surprisingly good staying power, I even like the sudden beatdrop and "Naevis, calling" now

But I'm mostly happy to see idol group songs charting in Melon top 10/20 again after last year

Nonstop was just before the chart reform so it wasn't included lol, and Dun Dun Dance got blocked initially by Justin Bieber but by the time JB oppar fell, BTS oppars were back

Yeah it's why I'm not a huge fan of Everglow's "First" or "Dun Dun", I understand they're going for a style and doing it pretty well but so many groups are doing the same so it doesn't make a lasting impression on me. La Di Da on the other hand was pretty good coz it wasn't as loud/bombastic.
Their new title just seems like a song that Ateez or The Boyz or some other group could release and it would've sounded the exact same. Same reason I didn't like Itzy's comeback- was more of a mashup of NCT/Stray Kids being covered by Itzy.

I def want them to have another Wannabe-era, that was them at their peak imo.

A lot of people find it one of their weaker titles imo, it definitely is their weakest by far to me, they're doing girl crush but the song was so low energy compared to all their other tracks, and as someone who has Itzy as one of his top 3 ult groups I was sad

dalla dalla, icy, and wannabe have stayed rent-free in my head since they all came out, they were so strong. not shy was alright in my opinion; the video was better than the song imo so i was hyped for this one, especially when the concept teasers were coming out. i nearly pre-ordered it....
