idk what it is, but recently i just can't keep up with kpop at all. :pepeshrug: i'm stuck stanning the same 2 groups i've been stanning for years and i know that isn't necessarily bad but i just feel like i'm constantly avoiding new releases and debuts; i haven't listened to meovv's debut, i haven't listened to bts solos, i haven't listened to the newjeans comebacks, i haven't listened to any new lsrfm bsides, i haven't listened to a full album in ages.
it isn't only with new groups or groups that aren't of my interest but even with idols i love and 'stan' :pandashrug:
i haven't listened to any loossemble song apart from TTYL, haven't listened to more than 3 artms songs, haven't listened to the rescene comeback, haven't listened to chuu's debut, i just feel like i'm so out of the loop even with people i'm supposed to be interested in. everytime a new song releases, i find myself avoiding it for days and i even acknowledge it myself but i just can't bring myself to listen to anything new at all. i think i never even update my playlist with songs i actually enjoy anymore, i listen to the same songs everyday :pandaleave:

i still find kpop fun, otherwise i wouldn't be here, but i just can't motivate myself to listen to the new music or even support a new group anymore, idk if it has anything to do with how toxic the community has gotten nowadays or something else, i just don't know :sakUwu:

sorry for the long rant :pepecry2:

Coming from someone has been into kpop for 13 years, I know how you feel. I’m at the point where kpop truly isn’t the same anymore. New groups every other week, idols becoming younger, toxic fans, and just how saturated it’s become

What keeps me going is just reminding myself that kpop has helped me through a decade of my life and I wouldn’t be the same without it :sanapray:

I feel you.

Like I can listen to new western releases any day but with kpop, the fan culture sometimes puts me off from listening to any new groups or releases. Or I keep pushing it back till it doesnt feel like a chore just to catch up.

It seems you need a break (from listening to K-Pop only, not from KPS). I never listened to just one musical genre, there's too much good stuff out there.

I maybe felt this about indie/women singer/songwriter/musician(s) after 30 yrs stanning(tho ofc I didn't use tat term, just a huge fan of) Suzanne Vega, Tori Amos, others less so like Indigo Girls, Rachael Yamagata, Vienna Teng. Also REM, Sting, Dinosaur Jr, Matthew Sweet, John Legend n maybe others to lesser degree.

I nvr thought deep abt it but maybe my brain just got overstuffed n couldn't process more of it n needed sthg new. I still love those songs from then.

Kpop I knew of from maybe 2000s, but nvr got into it. In 2009 I heard/watched Gee by SNSD n liked it, but I mostly slept on kpop(not totally unavoidable but not srsly into kpop at all).

In 2018 sthg clicked n I got deep into SNSD to extent of stanning n diving further n further until now I'm thinking I'll be a kpop stan for life (or until I reach the same stage as my previous indie music interest low point, or u know....)

Everybody has different levels of interest. I hvnt felt the same for any song in 2024 as for Eleven, After Like, Love Dive, Bon Voyage, Abracadabra, Monster, Naughty, Psycho, Gee, Next Level, Savage, Drama, Illusion, Life's Too Short, Welcome to my World, Thirsty, Yeppi Yeppi, Spicy n too many others from before 2024. Maybe my brain is too full of kpop in just 5/6 yrs(with bkscrolling to 2007 or earlier/later) to process new stuff after late 2023/2024.or my brain fossilized after getting old! LOL, just listen to wat u want. N don't stress urself.or dip out or in as much u want to.either way just decide n choose wat u wanna do.

Yeah. I think it’s normal. Hobbies wax and wane, and that doesn’t mean they necessarily go away, just that something else may be taking up more time and interest right now. And who knows, maybe you’ll get back deeply into kpop again, maybe you’ll remain less active but still interested, maybe you’ll lose full interest, or anything in between. All are normal and reasonable, and trying to push yourself back to like before would probably not help in the long run, and may make you like it less because you’re pushing yourself to care more rather than caring more yourself. So I’d say just keep going as you are. And who knows, maybe checking out less stuff means that if you become more actively interested again, it’ll mean there’s more content for you to consume :ankha:

TLDR: Yes, I’ve felt that way, and I think there’s nothing wrong with it. Caring because you feel like you should care probably isn’t the way to go imo. So I’d just keep going along for the ride as you are now :chill:

thank you for this, :izhug: it all just really feels like a burden right now so it's nice to know that it's not bad to not be as interested in it and nothing is gonna happen if i don't like something :pepeshrug:

in general there should be no difference if it's western music or kpop, but somehow it is?

I wonder if it's because with kpop you always somehow preassured to also follow the stuff apart from the music and than it becomes a lot really quickly?

I'm a casual listeners for most groups and only check out new releases when I stumble over the MV here or the song on spotify
I only actively follow one group and it works fine fot me
