Online, especially when I am playing video games, I do not like using open mic to talk to strangers. I do not like to reveal on most sites that I am a girl.
Perhaps it is a little outdated but I still have the constant worry of being mistreated because I am a girl.
I feel like female gamers are still not respected enough especially in some parts of some communities.

I'm pretty sensitive to insults and sexist ones in particular so I would rather just avoid the problem entirely than take the chance that I will be welcomed with open arms OR yelled at.
I am sure that a majority of gamers now don't care who you are but I'm still anxious to reveal myself

Yeah, I use not talk on games a while back, cause the guys were always trying to hit in me, sounding so desperate and such. I'm not senstive in the slightest so it doesn't really bother me, but I'd rather not make an idiot cry... I'm quite venomous with words naturally.
I hate playing with people generally though so it's not really a problem and I hardly talk, unless we're in a raid or something

I generally like playing alone it calming that way.
I'm not sure if it happens as much to girls in general but when i play, it's was /is more xbox comunnity and depending on the game I played, COD was full of desperate lol but its weird cause I'm assertive mean and don't have the girliest of voices.
PlayStation community its slightly different not as vocal, but its alot of message based trying to flirt... Which just gets deleted by me.

Although it might have to do with game skills level also, but I'm generally an average player across the board.

Female gamers are still pretty much looked down upon in most online games, even popular female streamers (who are good at gaming) are getting insults thrown to their faces etc. It's gotten a bit better than like say many years ago, but it definitely still needs to improve

I used to be more confident in speaking on the mic when I was a teen.
The only annoying part was when guys tried to flirt or make dirty jokes.
Like I'm not here to be picked up by anyone wtf.
I kicked their asses in the game. I was a big CoD girl.
So, I think I earned some of their respect just because I was decent, but still...
When I met with other gamer girls they were pretty bitchy towards me.
I guess bc they wanted the attention and I was interfering with that, idk.
I don't know what I would do without the ability to mute somebody.

totally understandable. not a gamer but I used to be very shy on discord vc's lol @perhapz @mirella could approve cause all I did in the first VC we had was laugh and I didn't say a word.

but anyway when you are comf with the people you spend time with online it can be super nice
