Ive been in a similar situation with my mom and i was such a coward that i tried a suicide attempt. Ur brave .

I had a suicide attempt in 5th grade because of bullying from my teacher and my counselor told me that the best revenge is becoming successful to prove those who looked down on you wrong. I hope you're out of that dark place

Yea it was complicated. A few years ago i adored him since I was too young to notice his manipulative and bipolar behavior. For 8 years he mentally and physically abused my stepmother in front of me and her kids. We were all young so we thought this was normal until the police were called and she had to file a restraining order

Like the others have said, you’re not wrong at all. If someone is toxic and you feel the need to cut them out of your life, then cut them out of your life. Just because they’re family doesn’t mean you need to keep them around you.

So Honestly no, you can only continue a cycle for so long before it starts to affect you. Yes you are family but that doesn't mean you have to put up with toxic shit, there is always a limit.
If you've reached yours so be it...
I would say leaving to door a jar for reconcilation can be an option but he would have to make that step through the door not you.
