Source: 'Record number of fires' in Brazilian rainforest

Brazilian rainforest Amazon has been burning due to countless fires happening. Country's president Jair Bolsonaro has been encouraging deforestation and clearing the land of the rainforest supporting landowners and farmers to burn the forest down. Although lot of the forest fires are natural many are also man-made when farmers and ranchers clear the land to get more space for farms and cattle. This was discouraged by previous goverments with fines, but Jair Bolsonaro has been encouraging this instead even stating ""I used to be called Captain Chainsaw. Now I am Nero, setting the Amazon aflame"

Amazonas declared an emergency over the fires and smoke from the fires have carried over to close major cities even causing blackouts.




Burning is farming tactic, and there might be validable reasons to burn forest, but this does look like it's out of the hand and it's sad to see that goverment of country is encouraging it. Amazon is pretty important, not only to Brazilia but the world, even being called lungs of the earth due to how much carbob dioxide it absords from air. Not only that, but there is tons of animal and plant species in Amazon not find elsewhere, the people close by are affected by smokes that can't be healthy.. that's lot of things that are being disregarded for short term gains

We were finally doing something right with the amazon but now it's all ruined. Years of hard work to restore the amazon to it's former state and now it's ruined all in the span of a few months because of that man. I can't even begin to imagine the countless animals that were harmed by these fires.
