Anime FALL season is coming to end and winter season will begin soon (some animes are already gotten their first eps oops).
So I was asked to post bit of summaries of FALL season's animes that I watched, which ended up being 8 series. I did sth like that on AKP on the beginning of season with my first impressions so I think it'd be nice to just post those summaries to here as well and then post my final thoughts and rating as well, see bit what changed.
Merc Storia: Mukiryoku no Shounen to Bin no Naka no Shoujo (12 eps)
Totally copy-pasted the last part of the title. Quite nice and light-hearted adventure anime of some cleric boy going around with tiny jar girl making some bad monsters good and helping villages. Visually really nice and pretty to watch, I love most of the character designs. 7 (Good) /3 eps watched.
My feelings of the show haven't watched, though what I have since noticed is that show is in episodic format, that isn't necessarily the best choice since although the episodes are pretty nice, the plot pretty much let's visit this city and culture (all cities seem to have their own kingdoms and cultures, you get Halloween city, Angel city, Fairy city..) and let's solve their problem and move on. There isn't that much of suspense nor character development what comes to main characters, it's pretty much just lighthearted and cute fantasy anime with some nice visuals. I will drop the rating to 6 (Fine) though due to lack of proper plot, I think the first ep had lot of promise for that, but the anime just dropped it for the city of the day approach.
Double Decker! Doug & Kirill (13 eps)
Detective anime with quite lot of comedy. I started watching this one cause I heard it's somehow connected Tiger and Bunny, well style of animation so far is, but nth else really. This is pretty weird one, the comedy is kinda on the nose, fanservice is pretty blatant, fashion terrorist everywhere- but it still manages to be somewhat enjoyable. Not shining star of this season, but alright. On MAL scoring, 6 (Fine)/3 eps watched.
Oh boy I think this one got even stranger as it went on and not necessarily in good way. Couple eps were nice, but most it was bit too ridiculous. The main plot has really lost me towards the end with pulling Naruto with that sudden alien stuff. It had more potential in the start and I was let down cause I expected sth like Tiger and Bunny which is one of best animes I have seen. I mean I guess I'll still keep it as 6 (Fine) , since anime needs to be pretty bad for 5 or lower from me.. but.. this one is just weird. The character design is pretty awful and some of plot pretty ridiculous, comedy was hit or miss mostly miss. I appreciate what they try with some representation stuff like sudden LGBT+ stuff, but that alone doesn't make good anime. Can't really recommend cause I'm not sure what I'd be recommending, I mean it's some kind of buddy cop-comedy with scifi stuff, but what is the plot..
Gakuen Basara (12 eps)
Well this is school spin-off of historical action-comedy Sengoku Basara-games. Reason why I'm watching this is cause I like the games and watched other animes on the game series already, I want content. It's not good though, can't recommend anyone, but desperate fans of the games. Maybe it will get better, probably not. 4 (Bad)/ 1 ep watched.
Final thoughts: As the season went on, I got more into this anime and started enjoying the humor it has more. I still think it's mostly worthwhile for those that are either fans of previous Sengoku Basara games or animes, since it's literally high school spin-offs of those and includes tons of references and jokes especially to previous seasons of anime. 6 (Fine).
Goblin Slayer (12 eps) Gem of the season
Everyone thought this was going to be lighthearted and fun series of adventurers beating some goblins. I thought that. Cruncyroll thought that and rated it PG traumatising bunch of kids and some adults who were just looking for some fun and nice animes to watch. It wasn't the fun lighthearted anime people assumed (expect those who already read the manga and knew what they were getting into). If you like dark fantasy and don't mind some possibly triggering themes (like sexual violence), the series is actually pretty good so far. Nice and gritty, not best this season has to offer, but top there. Oh and the plot.. well it's about some guy who after childhood trauma dedicated himself killing goblins. 8 (Very Good) /3 eps watched.
Final thoughts: I really loved this show, I think it was compact and clever. I even got into opening of the show, I sometimes listen the op alone :D The first ep was absolutely brutal and reserves all trigger warnings it has, and although it was made for shock value that shock value actually mattered through the series, it greated this dread, although some eps easied that up, some just brought that again and with battles you knew there was real stakes, something really bad might happen to the characters and I think that greated nice suspense for the plot. The plot itself is pretty simple and easy to follow, but that's not bad thing, I think that helped to keep it together through the anime. And I think the characters are pretty great too, especially main character who clearly suffers from some serious trauma, but has learned to live with it and even has some nice-ass character development through the season. However, I think final battle could have done with bit more of that dread and suspense, the good guys were bit overpowered. Still the ending was pretty funny with running joke of mystery of Goblin Slayers face, animators were cruel for not letting audience to fully see it even in last ep xd It was really nice to know this one will get second season too, can't wait!
So for the rating, not quite 10/10 for me though close, but I will give this one 9 (Great)! And for me, I think Goblin Slayer also was Anime of the Year for me.. so AOTY? xd

Sword Art Online: Alicization (12/? eps)
I have been one of those people who have thoughts SAO, the BTS of animes has just been too popular and too overrated to get into, not fitting to my elitists anime tastes that only watch superior and obscure animes never getting into trends.. cough. So my brother made me watch the first eps and after that I apologized to him being so elitist and stubborn.
I still haven't watched previous seasons of SAO (this is third) and probably won't. But I feel like Alicization works well as stand-alone as well. So what's it's about? The main character Kirito, has grown up and is testing this new game to company that truly connects your mind and soul to the game so the game is like a dream- you don't know you are in the game and remember who you really are during the game, and after the game you don't remember what happened in the game. Kirito starts having flashbacks about the game during his real life, like he should be remembering sth and soon finds himself trapped inside the game.
So far the anime has been really good, the animation is great and the story is tight and makes you feel anxious for the characters. There is also that element of mystery. I definitely recommend this one. 9 (Great)/3 wps watched.
Oh lol I called SAO the BTS of animes
This anime has really delivered so far, it has quite many plottwist and you are "oaky so this where we are going now", but those haven't been bad so far. There is quite nice balance of everything in this anime and I feel like it's well-crafted. Like the visuals are great, the story and mystery of it that has been unveiling has been great, characters have been pretty great so far and there has been lot of emotional stuff. There was also one shocking episode where people were asking "Is this Goblin Slayer?!" in the comments, that really shocked me on how dark it suddenly got.. not bad though.
If the anime would have ended this FALL with great ending could have beaten Goblin Slayer as my AOTY and depending where it goes I might even give it 10. But it seems the number of episodes is still mystery and I won't be hasty about it. Will keep 9 (Great) for this as rating and really interested seeing where it goes from here!
Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru aka Run with the wind (11/23 eps)
Sport anime of the season, well kinda. It's not your typical shonen sport anime with power-ups and over-the-top moves. It's as much as drama as it's sports anime to me, somewhat slow-based, though you have some nice comedy in there too. About university students who are mostly noobies and unwilling trying to run marathon. I feel like it has picked up after slow start and maybe will pick up more, kinda interested, but kinda slow-paced for me. Undecided. 7 (Good)/3 eps watched.
So, Run with the Wind is still continuing, so this isn't final thoughts and rating. But some thoughts nevertheless. The anime hasn't exactly picked up, there is some competitions and more sports, but the anime is very slow-based for me, borderlining boredom with some eps. I think I will continue to watch, but for now I will drop the rating to 6 (Fine). It's not bad anime, has some nice character development, but it lacks true suspense and it's bit too much "friendship is magic" for me. The comedy is there, but isn't quite enough. I think this one will be kinda "filler" anime, not bad to watch, but not sth you will remember and talk about afterwards.
Radiant (13/21 episodes)
Main protagonist has magic genes and can do magic so people are racist towards him. Muggles. Seems somewhat generic shonen series, though looks quite nice, action is nice and well it's just overall nice I guess. Is left bit in feets of more interesting and outstanding series of the season, but not a bad thing to watch at all. Interesting to see where this develops. 7 (Good)/2 eps watched.
Another one that has had more praising premise than what it turned into, but last two episodes have had some good action so at the moment, I'm getting my interest back. I guess "nice" is still best word to describe this one, the cast could be bit stronger I guess and plot goes bit on weird ways, but I'll stay on this ride and see where it goes. The antagonist seems interesting so far so there is that. Still 7 (Good) for me.
Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken aka That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. (13/24 eps)
Another pearl. This is not about those slimes that you can buy from toy shops for kids or watch weird videos on youtube about. The story is about salary man, who got killed by random mugger at street and become a slime in fantasy world. Despite being slim he received ability to consume his enemies and took over their skills so he ended up as quite over-powered slime.
So far the series have been pretty fun, the humor is in there and it's nice to see where the slimes story goes next. In other hand the show is pretty violent and the slime isn't exactly nicest guy around so be prepared on some heads rolling & bodies consumed for exp sake. My only concern for the series if it turns into ecchi later on based some character designs cause that's pretty boring, but so far so good. Another one I definitely recommend. 9 (Great)/3 eps watched.
As the series have went on, I have started to find this one bit less interesting. There is still lot to like, but the slime turned out to be bit too heroic for my liking, I liked when he was more ruthless like in the start that was more interesting to me. The "soulmate" stuff was bit weird especially how quickly it ended, but Rimuru's humor has stayed pretty funny. So far I will give Slime anime rating 8 (Good), doesn't compete anymore for best anime of the season or year for me, but pretty entertaining to watch and sth I recommend.
