Q: What is your least favorite thing about your ult's fandom?


A: The childishness. I know it exists in every fandom but it really makes us look like a joke due to our massive size. It's not exclusive to us but I feel like there's a lot of fans that can't accept people don't like our ults music and that's okay. We should just accept that ~group in question~ makes objectively great music and those people clearly didn't listen to them in depth enough to form a solid opinion (plus their opinion is their own), so we should just let it go LMAOOOO. A: Already experienced misogyny in the workplace and i must say it's not the best feeling. Though sexism over the internet is harmful and spreads terrible rhetoric, trust me I've seen enough of it. So that's worse. Plus more people have access to the internet than are in the workplace. Just because it doesn't happen irl doesn't mean it's not as important.

Q: how do you pronounce your username? and what does it mean?


A: "Tall-May". The link is in my sig, but "Ptolemaea" is the title of Ethel Cain's arguably most popular song, due to her intense scream around the 3:50 mark (timestamped in sig). It's also my favorite song of hers. The backstory fits in to her album "Preacher's Daughter", which I can link an explanation to (I already introduced another user to her through this song lol hehe).

It's harder to understand without knowing the backstory but here's the song synopsis:

Under the influence of Isaiah’s drugs, Ethel begins to hallucinate. She confronts the darkness.

The song name is inspired from Alighieri’s Divine Comedy [specifically Dante’s Inferno] Ptolemea, named after Ptolemy, is a circle of Hell in which the traitorous reside. Maybe this is a reference to Ethel abandoning her family and faith – only to be met with a wrath far worse.

It's a symbol of not only feminine rage, but being a victim at the same time- and that's very powerful. Not being the victim of a path you chose, but the horrific outcome that came with it instead. And being enraged about it too. I can say that about many situations in my life sadly (thankfully not currently). This song is very unique in its storytelling sense and many don't get it because they find it scary, but that's what makes it so good. When I changed my username I wanted it to be something edgy that I liked, but also a bit of a personal "fuck you" in a sense (I won't elaborate lol), and that's why I chose it. A: This is difficult. I love most of her songs. I would say "Tied Together With A Smile" but only because it's a subject matter that's a bit too touchy for me.

A: Kylie Jenner (or any Kardashian Jenner that isn't Kris), Hailey Bieber, Mikalaya Nogeuira (or however you spell it), Ethan Klein/H3H3 are all ones that come to mind but they've done genuinely shit things. I used to thoroughly dislike a certain kpop idol (common opinion sadly for her) for no reason but ended up stanning her group and it was the best decision ever.
